Another Caroline Source: Forget the Ted Explanation
A source close to Caroline Kennedy said the personal situation cited for her withdrawal from the senate race “does not have to do with Ted Kennedy.”
This source would not elaborate.
Caroline Kennedy’s withdrawal from contention--her one-sentence public statement last night cited a “personal reason” for withdrawing from the race--was said by at least one anonymous source to be prompted by her uncle Senator Ted Kennedy’s declining health. He suffered a seizure just after Obama’s inauguration and has been battled brain cancer for months.
New York Post State Editor Fred Dicker was skeptical of that assumption. On his radio show this morning, he said, “Does that make any sense? He’s been ill for months.”
Assemblyman Michael Gianaris of Queens – who is mentioned as a possible Attorney General should Andrew Cuomo go to the senate – appeared on Dicker’s show also. Gianaris said that when public figures cite personal reasons, “We don’t need to know more than that.”
