Bloomberg: 'Reconstruction Time Has Come and Gone'

Robert Lieber will be the city's Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and not its Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding, the old title used by Daniel Doctoroff, who announced earlier this month that he was leaving the position. Mr. Lieber was appointed today as Mr. Doctoroff's successor.

Mayor Bloomberg said that the name change reflected the pace of the city's development since September 11, according to The Observer's Politicker blog:

“Yes, we decided to drop the reconstruction since, I think, we’re beyond that... Reconstruction time has come and gone. Development time continues.”
