Terry McAuliffe explains what 'in it to win it' has meant for fund-raising. There's more campaign cash going around this cycle than previous ones probably because of rising economic inequality, not the Internet, says Ben. Mitt Romney raised more money that Rudy Giuliani Gail Robinson thinks "one clear loser" in the state budget this year was "open government." Joe Bruno is gloating about how he fared. John Catsimatidis is registering as a Republican Howard Weitzman is raising money for something. Andrew Cuomo settled cases against Citibank and school lenders. Plans to build a new United Nations building on a playground has at least one critic. Conspiracy alert: The guy who convinced Rudy Giuliani to dress in drag - and may have introduced the former mayor to his current wife - is now helping John McCain. Giuliani leads 2008 contenders in Florida. And pictured above is a scene from the Assembly chambers shortly after the budget deadline on Saturday night. -- Azi Paybarah

In order for the city to take the park they would need the State Legislature's approval. It's called Park Alienation and the legislature generally defers to the Assemblymember and State Senator who represent the area. State Sen Liz Krueger has been opposed to it but I am not sure what Assemblymember Brian Kavanagh will do. The last two Assemblymembers, Sanders and Friedman, both opposed the losing of the park. That area has the least amount of parkland in the entire city and needs MORE parkland not less.
Does Brian have the courage to stand up to Doctoroff? He certainly has not shown much courage in standing up to Shelly, considering he campaigned on standing up to Shelly. He was even booed at a CB6 meeting for toeing the party line by voting for DiNapoli. I won't even mention that he's about to sell the community out in regards to Union Square Park.
Maybe Doctoroff should call CB6 and review their plan (which is a wonderful model of community-based planning) for the entire area.
Kavanagh opposes Doctoroff's plan.
Good. I am glad to hear that because the area needs more parkland, not less.
And the UN has made it clear they don't want that space.
