Gallagher Indicted

Councilman Dennis Gallagher was indicted just now by a grand jury in Queens on charges that he raped a woman in his district office.

Gallagher’s lawyer said he will move to dismiss the indictment because of “prosecutorial misconduct" when he appears with Gallagher in court tomorrow.

Gallagher’s lawyer, Stephen R. Malher, told me that his client was “subject to a grossly unfair grand jury presentation. He was sandbagged. I will make a motion at the beginning of the case to dismiss the indictment because of prosecutorial misconduct.”

How so?

“Two-thirds of the questions they asked of him were improper and designed to embarrass him in front of the grand jury,” Mahler said. When asked if the questions were of a sexual nature, Mahler said, “Some of them.

“There were questions that were irrelevant to the subject matter at hand and improper and designed to prejudice the jury.”

Gee, I'm wondering why Quinn is so silent on this issue?
You know why, she is whore for the Queens political clubs.

She will never be mayor and she should do what Duane did, put out a story and claim you have a disease(we all know Duane isn't sick from anything)and hope for the best. She is a non entity.

Gallagher's lawyer said: "He testified against my advice. He did it not to hide behind legalistics and to testify to the truth as he knew it because he knows he is innocent of any charges."

What a dumb a**. Keep your mouth shut and listen to your lawyer. You're in some deep doo-doo, pal.

I know that everyone is pressumed innocent unti proven guilty, so for his sake, I hope that Councilman Gallagher is innocent.

However, if he turns out to be found guilty, his pension and benefits from being a City Councilman should be removed as well. I am sick of how when we have elected officials who are found guilty of crimes relating to their office, we (taxpayers) continue to cover for their nice pensions.

When will there be a Councilmember with the courage to stand up and bring about real change in City Hall? WHEN?

Council Member Gallagher is frankly one of the few decent Council Members out there and a true son of Maspeth/Ridgewood.
Dennis is a good man, an upstanding member of his community and I am sure he will be proven innocent. His actions were courageous in facing a biased grand jury, (Judge Brown is definitely out for blood here) and borne out the knowledge that he is innocent. I wish Dennis all the best of luck.
