Giuliani Team Defends Spending Practices, Not Billing Habits
Ben reports that the Giuliani team is insisting all security expenses were perfectly appropriate, instead of explaining why they were billed to obscure city agencies.
Bernie Kerik jumped to his former boss's defense. (The Giuliani campaign, no doubt, will be delighted.)
Former Deputy Mayor Joe Lhota insists, “This was not a coverup.”
Although Lhota has already backed off a claim that the same practices “predate Giuliani.”
And Comptroller Thompson said of the billing: "That's not the way that we operate these days.”
Meanwhile, former officials tell ABC News that Giuliani had Judith Nathan use the N.Y.P.D. as "her personal taxi service.”

Rudy's behavior here is unethical, amoral and fiscally irresponsible. What more could Romney and Huckabee want? Their surrogates should be all over this. It's at least 2 weeks of negative stories for Rudy if they really work at it.

Kerik romances his book publisher in the building across the street from the World Trade Center, while we work below him on the disaster on the rockpile below him.
Kerik does not obtain "Top Secret Clearance" from the FBI as NYPD Police Commissioner for Joint Federal Cases, knowing he could not cut muster in doing so.
Kerik 's college degree is an "On-Line" degree and he declares bankruptcy.
Kerik'spends time in the back seat of his police car writing on his memoirs instead of tending to police business.
Kerik's ties to the mob and their associates.
How is it every Detective on the NYPD knew this guy was a misfit except Rudy?
We all knew that this guy was nothing but a "Bootlick" for Rudy with NO credentials at all to hold serious positions of leadership.
Karl Rove had to know this also. Rove had to know that Kerik would self distrust within 48 hours of being appointed to his Federal position. (Which happened by the way)

This was a political hit job. It is interesting that the reporter who broke this story is actually covering the Clinton campaign. Is this just sheer coincidence?
