Go for Bjork! Kooky Swan-Dressing Singer Said to Be Switching Nests

The exclusive hamlet of Snedens Landing, a posh enclave in southern Rockland County, New York, often referred to as Hollywood on the Hudson, is abuzz with the news that one of its most colorful residents, the singer Bjork, is moving.

A source overheard the singer, perhaps most famous for wearing a dress shaped like a swan to the 2001 Academy Awards, confirming this information herself the other day while at the checkout stand at the Community Market in the neighboring town of Piermont, famed as the longtime residence of actor William Hurt.

“I hear you will be leaving us,” the source recalls the store clerk asking the diminutive Icelandic singer, who was clad in purple tights, a green shirt and a pink jacket.

“Well, I am changing houses, but I will still be around,” Bjork allegedly replied, before loading her groceries onto her bike and peddling off, one presumes toward the house she is currently selling.

The singer’s rep didn’t return calls, but a real estate source confirmed that she is quietly shopping her current place for $3.5 million. Perched on the edge of a rocky hill that spills down to the Hudson, with a stone exterior and sharply peaked roof, it looks like a place where an elf would live, that source said. Neighbors include game-show gazillionaire Chuck Barris, the actors Al Pacino and Bill Murray, and the ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov.

“She’s such a wonderful, odd sight,” said one person who lives nearby. “It’s a shame she’s leaving.”
