Go, Shorty! It's Your Earth Day
You know the drill: The Prospect Park Audubon Center offers the kids some “interactive exhibits” (let’s hope that doesn’t include that baboon family) with music, crafts and general whoop-de-do.
Back on the island, the Central Park Conservancy opens the Peter Jay Sharp Children’s Glade, a new area at the Great Hill (between 103rd and 106th streets—no cruising, fellas, O.K.?). Rumored to attend the opening-day activities are such park-happy parents as Bette Midler (she hates litter!), Robert and Grace De Niro, Mayor Mike (I am standing!) Bloomberg and fun-to-say Muffie Potter Aston.
And at Lincoln Center, a bid for Sopranos fans: Italian singer Patrizio Buanne performs Neapolitan songs and Italian-American standards. We close our eyes and see Furio.
