Hikind Responds: Why Not Incest?
Assemblyman Dov Hikind just emailed me a statement in response to an earlier statement from gay rights activist Alan Van Capelle slamming him for opposing same-sex marriage.
Capelle, responding to a column in the Daily News by Errol Louis, said, “I guess Errol Louis doesn't mind standing with Dov Hikind, and I don't think that's where most people want to stand.”
Hikind’s response: “If we authorize gay marriage in the state of New York, those who want to live and love incestuously will be five steps closer to achieving their goals as well.”

I have had the opportunity to speak with individuals from all walks of life. I have always accorded each person the respect and dignity he/she deserves; it does not matter what ethnicity, what color, what religion, or what preferences. This isn’t about dignity or respect; this is about legal precedent. If you say that gay marriage is kosher, why not respect the wishes of any two consenting adults who fall in love, wish to marry and start a family: brother and sister, father and daughter, mother and son, etc. Incest or other deviant behavior is becoming a legal reality for the future. <>As my colleague Assemblyman Brodsky said in his address on the issue of gay marriage: If it makes people happy, and it doesn’t hurt anyone else why should we oppose it? And in that same line of thinking, why should we refer to other such relationships, incestuous though they may be, as disgusting? If the only bar we set for marriage is a loving relationship between two adults, then Allen and Patricia Muth, brother and sister, should not have been prosecuted in Wisconsin, when they fell in love and had several children together. Paul Lowe is appealing his conviction in Ohio for incest, for having a relationship with his 22-year-old stepdaughter.

Ridiculous. Go ahead and introduce this short-sighted and foolish legislation - let's see how far it goes. I'd love to see the reaction he gets from his constituents.
WOW. Apparently Dov Hikind has forgotten the struggle of his own people, the Jews. He obviously has not suffered enough, been discriminated enough, or loved enough, to mock homosexuals the way he did. Aren't the similarities between what the Nazis said about the Jews and what present day idiots says about homosexuals hilarious. It is also important to remember that Jews were not the only ones rounded up and but into concentration camps, homosexuals were too. I for one have never been sexually attracted to my mom, dad, sister, nor brother, and I am a homosexual. Although I have been in a 10 year monogamous relationship with my partner.
The pedophiles and all other sexual deviants have aligned themselves with the gays(homosexuals). Our children are in peril. The homosexuals are trying to "out" our children. It HAS to stop!

I'd like to see who in the Assembly will join Hikind and go on record voting for his bill. Even George Will has admitted that his daughter's generation thinks of being gay as being no different from being left handed and supports lifting the ban on gays in the military. But, Dimitri, don't waste your breath trying to convince bigots like Hikind (or Orlando) -- fortunately given enough time, they eventually reveal what dumba**es they really are.
Orlando - read the post and the responses, much as you might not want to admit it, the polygamists and practitioners of incest are aligned with Assemblymember Hikind, not the LGBT community. The Pride Agenda and the LGBT leadership wants nothing to do with folks looking to legalize incest or polgamy - but the "defender" of heterosexual marriage is the one trying to legalize both practices. You should be complaining to him.

The homo sexuals attack the Constitution. The homo sexuals attack the definition of marriage as being 1 man and 1 woman. The homo sexuals attack the Boy Scouts of America !etc.. etc...As if the self-serving homosexuals have rights or needs that supercede those of others. The homo sexuals are trying to "out" our children for their own self-serving urges.

Dov Hikind has been spreading homophobia for ages on behalf of his homophobic orthodox constituents. Why sugar coat it? Dov and the orthos would be the first to scream anti-semitism, but are intolerant of other folks -- gay folks only being one of the groups that they dislike. In Williamsburg, for example, the orthos think that they should be able to keep artists and anyone else not just like the orthos out of their neighborhoods. Some young Jewish orthodox men have even hit non-ortho folks (namely women) walking the neighborhood. It's a disgrace. Many of these folks (or their ancestors) have fled Europe to escape persecution, but they don't even give their fellow Americans the same basic courtesy and respect. The orthos think that everything revolves around them and everyone should bend over backwards to accomodate them. Now lest you think that I'm anti-semitic, I'm not. But facts are are facts, and this one segment of New Yorkers whom Dov Hikind caters too are some of the most discrimnatory and intolerant people I've ever seen. It's not pretty, folks.
As for Orlando, try not to sound quite so illiterate. A little less time studying Torah and a little more time thinking and learning how to write might be a good idea. Just a thought.
The homo sexuals seem aggressive, self-serving, violent and short-sighted. The reality of the situation is something that they will choose to ignore. It is quite simply an illustration of how wreckless they are. The homosexuals choose to ignore the damage and peril that they cause society and our children. Who cares what the homosexuals do but they should NOT be allowed to redefine marriage or to demand ridiculous "rights" !
butchmage: please think about the slippery slope you are proposing with medical risks being the deciding factor in secular marriage or civil unions. As such, that which can preclude incestual, polygamous, or bestiality relationships having a pathway towards proposed unions can also be used to block certain homosexual or heterosexual unions on the same murky medical grounds of spreading disease etc. depending upon the partners involved. Do you really want a government looking up your STD, communicable disease, or even white blood cell count before giving you the right to a legal union? Suppose one partner is HIV+, will that preclude from marrying your partner under that legal precedent? I'm all for secular marraige or civil unions for heteros and the homosexual community, but I do not want the pandora's box of giving the government legal precedent to decide each and every union on health issues.
I truly hope that orlando the psychopath gets the mental help he so obversly needs.
