Make It Work! Project Runway Star Comes to Chelsea for New Show
Tim Gunn’s new television show is currently being filmed in the center of New York’s dying club district.
Bravo TV recently signed a lease on a 2,500-square-foot space at 522 West 29th Street to shoot the Project Runway guru’s new show, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, according to a source. The series will feature Mr. Gunn, the long-time chair of the fashion-design department at Parsons The New School for Design, helping hapless fashion misfits make themselves over.
The loft is on the second floor of a nondescript two-story building on 29th Street, between 10th and 11th avenues.
James Famularo, executive vice president of New York Commercial Realty and the sole broker for the listing, said that he couldn’t confirm the identity of the tenant; he did tell The Observer that a lease was signed and that the rent would be “market rate” for the loft.
Commercial space can go for upward of $55 per square foot in that part of town, according to the brokerage Cushman & Wakefield.
Sources say that Bravo wasted no time in getting to work. Within days of closing on the space, filming had begun and fashion duds were being transformed into fashion studs.
