Overhaul Continues at CBS' Early Show

New executive producer Shelley Ross continues to shake up CBS' The Early Show, which for some tmie now has been stuck in third place in the morning news battles.

Today, CBS announced that they've added a new anchor to the tag-team cast: Maggie Rodriguez, who has been co-anchoring the Saturday version of the show since June.

The move comes right on the heels of the departure last week of anchor Hannah Storm.

TV Newser also reported today that the show will unveil a new set in January. In the meantime, CBS will broadcast the show out of Katie Couric's digs--aka Studio 47.

Big mistake taking Hanna off the show. I thouroughly enjoy watching and her smile helps make my day brighter. If she goes to another network I'll go wwith her.

When people get to see her and listen to her, they will fall in love with her. She is a sweetheart and should be a winner for CBS. Hanna is good but Maggie is more personable.

You've made a HUGE mistake by taking Hanna off the show. I looked foreward to watching her every morning. She's a great reporter, friendly, kind and compassionate. She was a GREAT asset to CBS. If she goes to another network I'll go with her.
You people don't know when you've got a good thing!!
In my opinion CBS is going down hill FAST in ALL areas! The only reason I'll ever watch the station is for my local news!

stephanie (not verified) says:

well i agree some changes need to take place at cbs, removing Hanna Storm is not one of them.I believe you would be better off getting rid of Katie Couric!

jovaughn (not verified) says:

where is hanna going? i loved her, hope she still has a job

Stephanie, I couldn't agree more!!!

Big mistake taking Hannah off the show....you should have taken Julie Chen off but I guess that isn't possible since she is married to/sleeping with the head honcho of the network. She is such an "ice queen". If she is going to have more camera time due to Hannah leaving - I am out of there. Hannah should have stayed. Hopefully she still has a job - I will move networks too if she ends up some where else. I like Maggie too...but Hannah has more credibility in my book. Harry is AWESOME!

Hanna Storm reports news and human interest stories in the most thoughtful and kind way. CBS has lost a valuable asset and would be crazy not to get her back.

I am happy to see Hanna go. Lately she seemed to be trying too hard to sex up her image. Oftentimes she was dressed like a 20 year old. I stopped taking her seriously.

Kirk Kadas (not verified) says:

I tried watching all the other morning shows, and they couldent match the cbs early show, only because of Hanna Storm, her wonderful smile and zeal for life is the only reason that i would turn the T.V. on at all. BIG MISTAKE CBS. Hanna: If your out there, please come back.
We love ya!

I don't think Maggie Rodriguez has what it takes to be an anchor on a morning show, especially weekday. She does not seem to be particularly knowledgeable about current topics or the interviewee's subject. Hannal Storm was much better at this than Maggie. The main issue I saw with Hannah that in interviewing she did not ask enough open-ended questions, so the often the interviewee could answer with just a yes or a no. And, the topic would go a little flat.

I miss Hanna every morning still. She was the only reason for watching CBS.
Maybe i can find her some other place.

Shannon (not verified) says:

I too miss Hanna! I absolutely loved her & could really relate to her. I agree that if anyone had to leave they needed to remove Katie Couric. Anyway, The Early Show is definitely not the same & her absence is quite apparent! Maggie is trying but she does not by any means come close to a replacement for Hanna!

I have been an avid watcher of The Early Show. Harry and Dave Price are awesome. I love Dave in the weather. He has such a great sense of humor. Another reason I love the show was because of Hanna Storm. I have followed Hanna for many years and she has always been a fantastic reporter. It would be very wise to keep her on CBS in a main role because if she isn't retained, CBS will loose alot of viewers. Hanna is full of life, personable, knowledgable and has a very comfortable way when reviewing people. Maggie is a beautiful person but she doesn't have enough experience. Nothing personal but Katie Couric needs to be reassigned. She just isn't interesting or personable. Hanna, we love ya!

So sorry that Hanna is no longer on The Early Show. She was a big drawing card for me. I agree with another posting -- does not make sense to have Hanna gone, and Julie still there. I don' think Hanna was the reason for being in third place - she was the strong one. I would like to see Harry and Hanna have the show.

Now I switch channels during the morning shows .....

I have been watching the morning show for several years now and thru most of the shows alway wondered why Julie Chen was always jet setting to other locations. Then on day I turn an the TV to find a new theme and no Hanna Storm. I enjoyed her thru her ESPN years and was happy to have found her on the morning show doing what she does best, being herself. To CBS and it execs, I as other viewers have stated will see where she lands and follow her and hope that the mornings will be as enjoyable with her back in front of the lens again. BIG MISTAKE, but then again isnt that what people with money and "power" have evolved to. As the saying goes, its not who you know !!!!!!!!!!! My best to a talented lady who made the morning news a bit brighter, see you soon.

I have not tuned into the Early Show since Hanna's departure. You wonder what genius decided on that move. I would wager that the third-place ratings have fallen further. She and Harry are top-shelf and Dave is wonderful in his position. Hanna is bright and personable and her smile and cheery nature was a big asset, not to mention that she has some of the best legs on the planet. I couldn't agree more with previous contributors that this is only another massive fau pax by CBS, almost as big of a mistake as hiring Katie Couric for the nighttime slot. By the way, whatever happened to Renee?

California Bob (not verified) says:

I miss Hanna's bright smile starting off my day. And she was a very knowledgable and graceful interviewer. She was the only reason I watched the CBS early show. Maggie is OK but she is a big let-down from Hanna. What bad judgement at CBS to let Hanna go!

GeorgiaRose (not verified) says:

Actually, the prima donna (Julie Chen) should have gotten the boot but when you're the boss's main squeeze, it's a free ride. What an embarrasment Monday morning watching the self lovefest instead of giving us the news and current events.
The Early Show had a behind the camera shake-up and has begun a steady plunge in credibility and program content.
Often I ask: "Where did the adults go that use to run this show?"
Maggie, leave the song & dance routine in the closet.
Best of luck to Storm.

With all the changes going around would you please hire someone whom can spell. Check it out the word time is not speeled tmie

My husband called me from work just to tell me that Hannah Storm is joining ESPN. He knew that CBS ruined my Christmas by letting Hannah go. I was just as stunned as she must have been. No kidding I went into a depressed state. I am no fan of Maggie. I no longer watch the CBS Early Morning Show. Good luck to Hannah!

Anonymous (not verified) says:

I too have missed Hannah and have wondered why and what has cbs done, but I'll admit Maggie is doing a pretty good job and is a nice fresh face that compliments Harry and Julie.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

I accidentally hit the button and prematurely sent my comments as I was proofreading and editing my remarks. I was inserting some edits when in happened. I wanted to finish it off by adding that I won't be watching CBS until Katie is gone and Hanna returns. I really should be demanding Dan be brought back!

Torie (not verified) says:

No, doubt with Hanna gone, no one matches her absence. Harry is a good guy and sincere. I think, it will take us some good time to accept the changes. Trying to accept Maggie, she is trying but it is a matter of charisma. I am still trying. My best wishes for Hanna and hope she was not asked to leave, but given a better and more executive position that might allow her to be involved in totally revamping the Early Show, I doubt though. Good luck everybody on this network.

Anonymous (not verified) says:

Hanna Storm sucked. She was all arms and legs and said a bunch of stupid things with her big mouth and fake laugh. I am so glad she is gone. Why pick on Julie? I love her, she is proffesional and interesting and hard working. I think she should get more air time for Big Brother. She hardly had time to do the ending properly. Big Brother is better than Survivor. I definitely do not think she gets preferential treatment. Just the opposite. Thanks again for replacing Hanna!
