All,
I'm pleased to announce that we are strengthening our senior management team.
Beginning next month, Managing Editor Blaise Zerega will become a Deputy Editor. The move allows Blaise to focus fully on editorial and web site matters. In his new post, Blaise will oversee our technology coverage and special issues, work closely with Chris Jones as we build portfolio.com, and help coordinate conferences and events. Blaise in 2008 will move his base of operations to San Francisco, where he will help us establish a strong West Coast presence for the magazine. New Yorkers not to worry, he will be back in NYC frequently.
Before joining Portfolio in 2005, Blaise was Managing Editor of Wired magazine. Prior to that, he was the Editor of Red Herring magazine. In addition, he was the news editor at ASAP, the technology supplement of Forbes. He graduated from New York University and received his graduate degree in English from University of Texas, Austin.
We're fortunate to welcome as our new managing editor Jacob Lewis, currently Managing Editor of The New Yorker. Jacob has been with The New Yorker for years, and has served as Managing Editor since 2002. Previously he was the deputy managing editor. Jacob has also written for The Washington Post, The New York Observer, and Conde Nast Traveler. Jacob brings with him tremendous expertise in working with accomplished writers and complex, sometimes late-breaking stories. Jacob is a graduate of UC Santa Cruz. He lives with his wife and their two children in Brooklyn. He\'ll join us next month. Please join me in congratulating both Jacob and Blaise, and in welcoming Jacob to Conde Nast Portfolio.
All best, Joanne
