Suze Orman, TV's Finance Maharishi, Buys $3.6 M. Plaza Spread

Suze Orman, the well-tanned finance guru, who writes huge-selling books like You've Earned It, Don't Lose It and The Courage to Be Rich, once said she was simply aghast at real estate mania. Rampant condo speculation, she intoned, was a sure sign Americans were “losing their minds.”
But a deed filed today show that trusts in the name of Ms. Orman and her partner Kathy (“get yourself a living revocable trust” was Ms. Orman's New Year’s advice for 2006) just closed on a big apartment at the newly redone Plaza.
They paid $3,610,886 and 34 cents.
No mortgages were taken out for the Central Park hotel purchase, public records show, which means she paid in cash. “I think if you can pay cash, you should,” Ms. Orman says in this interview.
But when asked if we should buy the biggest house affordable, she says no. “I’ve always purchased homes that only are what I need. I’m never at a home very long! I come into a city, I spend a few days there, I’m gone.”
Whenever she’s at The Plaza, she’ll have 100-year-old mosaic tile patterns in the bathroom, walnut-bordered herringbone parquet in the living room, and a “one touch, high resolution, wireless flat-panel display” for security, concierge, and “interior ambience.” Get yourself some herringbone parquet.

Suze Orman and her wealth are proof of the stupidity of the masses.
Sounds like a nice pad. Wonder what kind of rug munchin' will go on those antique parquet floors.
You go Suze!
I admire Ms. Orman so very much. She wants to help all women. If I could afford a condo in the Plaza, I would certainly be buying a condo in the Plaza. She made the money - she should enjoy it! Wouldn't we all like to be living her life? come on, be kind - she earned it! I wish her all the very best that life has to offer...

You know, this is one of the hardest working women I've ever seen. She writes books, has a tv and radio show, is on Oprah, Larry King, is constantly traveling . . . and her entire business is built around helping people get out of debt and get control of their financial lives. She doesn't talk down to anyone; indeed, she freely admits that someone gave her $20,000 to start a business and pull herself up and out of a meager job with meager salary, and she quickly blew or lost all the money. So she picked herself up again. And now she helps hundreds of thousands - whoever takes the time to attend her seminars or read her books or simply watch her freely on tv. So why shouldn't she, at age 53, enjoy what she has worked so hard for, is STILL working for, and has earned? She deserves a nice place to live - it SHOULD be in the financial capital of the USA, and anyone that says otherwise is simply small and jealous. Hats off to Suze and Kathy - may they live long, healthy lives and enjoy their new home immensely.
