ARE YOU GOING TO CHUCK SCARBOROUGH FAIR? Animal lovers—like frisky ladies’ man Matt Lauer, schmatte heiress Dylan Lauren, architect Richard Meier and our local NBC favorite, Chuck Scarborough (in his ladies’ sunglasses, we hope!)—are at the Mandarin Oriental hotel for the ASPCA’s Bergh Ball. Tonight’s theme is “Tails of Time” (yea!). Isaac Mizrahi (remember him?) plays host, and after some cocktails (Cats-mopolitan, anyone?) and dinner, there will be an auction with artwork from David LaChapelle, Bruce Webber and Arthur Elgort. Much further south, Creative Time, the nonprofit that “presents the most innovative art in the public realm” (if you say so!), celebrates its 33rd birthday with more arty-auction stuff at the Bowery Hotel. Hey, are we the only people that are seriously scared of the Bowery Hotel? Hel-lo, stab city. Regardless, guests scheduled to attend include Deborah Harry and David Byrne (who will host), hotelier André Balazs, really rich lady Beth Rudin DeWoody and artist Cindy Sherman. O.K.! Up at the 92nd Street Y, one of our very favorite actresses, Ellen Burstyn, talks about her long career in film, stage and television. “Burstyn can’t necessarily open a picture anymore,” says our Big-Cheese Editor, “but she can open my apple juice anytime she wants!”
