Tickets on Sale for South Pacific

Tickets are now on sale for the first-ever Broadway revival of the classic musical South Pacific at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre, according to BroadwayWorld.com.

Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific is set on a tropical island in the Pacific during World War II, where US Navy nurse Nellie Forbush (who will be played by Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara) falls in love with local plantation owner Emile De Becque (played by Brazilian baritone Paulo Szot). Meanwhile, Lt. Joe Cable has fallen in love with young Liat, daughter of the irrepressible Bloody Mary. Both couples' happiness is threatened by the realities of the war and by their own prejudices. Also on the island are dozens of locals and Navy, all of whom seem to break into glorious song and dance at just the right moments.

Bartlett Sher (Light in the Piazza) directs this revival, the first time South Pacific has been seen on Broadway since its premiere in 1949. The original production garnered extraordinary acclaim and countless awards including nine Tonys and a Pulitzer Prize.Performances begin on March 1, 2008.
