The Hold Steady Star on Letterman; Jay Leno 'Done' With NBC?
As we told you earlier in the week, on Tuesday, Brooklyn's most beloved indie band, the Hold Steady, released its new album, Stay Positive. And tonight, the band is the musical guest on the Late Show With David Letterman. Pitchfork reports that the Hold Steady will also star on in a taped segment on tonight's show: "Apparently, Letterman's crew followed the Hold Steady on the road for a few days earlier this year, and captured what it's like to be in 'America's Rock Band'. The segment is about five minutes long, and it will air tonight before Letterman's Top 10 List."
In other late-night talk show news, it seems like Jay Leno will definitely be parting ways with NBC. Conan O'Brien is set to take over The Tonight Show in 2009, but there's been speculation that Mr. Leno would stay on with the network to do another show. But a profile of Mr. Leno in today's USA Today reveals otherwise.
"I am definitely done next year — with NBC," he told the paper, which pressed him on whether he would go to another network. "I'm not a beach guy, and the last time I was in my pool was to fix a light. Don't worry, I'll find a job somewhere."
