Author Naomi Klein Says 'No' to The Colbert Report
The Media Mob has learned that Naomi Klein, the liberal Canadian author (most recently of The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism) recently turned down an invitation to appear on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, which is set to return to the air, sans striking writer, on Monday, Jan. 7.
Yesterday, we reported that Katrina vanden Heuvel, the editor of The Nation, had likewise refused to cross the picket lines to appear on the show.
A person close to Ms. Klein confirmed the news, and told Media Mob that Ms. Klein is currently out of the country on a retreat, and thus not immediately available to comment.
The No Fact Zone, an encylopedic blog about all things Colbert, has kept an ongoing list of guests who reportedly will be appearing on Mr. Colbert's show, when it returns. The most recent list of guests includes Andrew Sullivan and Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi.
