Award Season Continues: Webbys Announced
Is Wired better than The New York Times? According to this year's Webby Awards, when it comes to Best Copy/Writing, it sure is.
Wired.com beat out NYTimes.com (as well as Slate, Design Observer, and HowStuffWorks) in that category. NYTimes.com did win in the News and Newspaper categories. Fresh off its National Magazine Awards for General Excellence (over 2,000,000 circulation) Reporting, and Photojournalism, National Geographic picked up a Best Use of Photography for its Your Shot section and Magazine for its main site, shutting out NYMag.com. The Financial Times picked up a Webby for best Business Blog for its Alphaville.
Other winners include The Huffington Post for best Political Blog, The Onion for Humor. (Better luck next fifteen minutes, I Can Has Cheezburger?)
In a surprise lose, the Facebook backlash appears to be in full swing as Flock The Social Web Browser edged out the mammoth gathering place of high schoolers and adults who act like high schoolers in the Social Networking category. Plus, there are many, many more winners listed in the Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video and Mobile categories.
