B.A.M. Brings Sundance to Brooklyn

For the third year in a row, the Sundance Institute has packed up its bags after Park City, Utah's January film festival and brought the show to Brooklyn!

They condensed the dizzying number of selections the official festival down to 22 features and 36 shorts to show at an 11-day program starting this Thursday, May 29 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

B.A.M. made a little trailer for the mini-fest, which has absolutely no good information about what will be shown but is cute with its plunky soundtrack and stop-motion animation nonetheless.

The feature sha-bang a screening of Choke, the film adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s disturbing novel, starring Anjelica Huston and Sam Rockwell. If you're looking for tickets, you're out of luck though. All those Brooklyn hipsters snagged 'em already. Sigh.

Opening night will include a screening of Nanette Burstein's American Teen, which was awarded the Documentary Directing Prize and will make its New York premiere before being released in theaters on July 25 (watch a segment above, via the documentary's kid-kitted Facebook page).

Then Park Slope dream couples can slow dance during the Opening Night Prom Party.

Spiked punch will be in the red cups, we're sure. Check out more screenings and events at BAM's Sundance homepage.
