Bill Clinton on Hillary's Relationship With McCain

Getty Images

CHARLESTON, SC—One of Bill Clinton's talking points this week is just how thick Hillary Clinton and John McCain are.

Today in Spartanburg, he described them as "very close." And the other night in Myrtle Beach, he called them "good friends," and said "they like each other." The topic seems to be coming up relatively often, and unprompted (not to mention that it's different than the attitude McCain has taken towards Clinton).

Maybe it’s because one of his stumping points is that his wife builds bridges with Republicans. But it also just makes one feel uncomfortable about what life after the conventions might (might!) be like.

Oh I get it. Hillary is trying to make people think she isn't all barred teeth and lies in her desperate quest for power and money. Sorry, Hill, you would be a nations worst nightmare. Since you're pretending to make nice can we see your White house records now?

What's so nightmarish about getting out of Iraq, balancing a budget, establishing some semblance of foreign policy and taking care of Americans' health? Wendy must be one of those people who has to give up one of her 5 SUV's if the country decides to go Democratic. Wahhhh!

Hillary, the former Goldwater Girl, is friends w/Republicans. Can't believe why anyone is surprised. Bill seems to constantly want to travel w/Bushes (Sr. and Jr.) past, present and future. (Why the world would want to see/hear from a Bush even w/the entertaining Bill, is a mystery? Must be a rep rehab tour for the Bush dynasty? How nice of Bill/Hill). The Bush/Clinton/Bush/(Clinton?) and Republican/DNC (Lieberman?) relationships are well-documented. You never heard a peep out of Bill during the last 7 years or during the Florida debacle that stole the Election from Al Gore. NOT A PEEP. The Clintons are totally and absolutely POLITICAL...including their choice of "friends." For the two dynasties, it is ALL about BUSINESS and they are two sides of the same coin. Get it???

BILL CLINTON should have started with having been joined

at the hip with GEORGE BUSH SR. for the last nine years

HOP, SKIP, AND JUMPING, WORLDWIDE for all to see. . .

(Enough to make a biological son puke)

And, just enough to shadow (exactly)

WHAT (might be) WHAT!

Hill is also chummy with Rupert Murdoch. No surprises, here. The surprises will come IF she becomes President and the old "Goldwater Girl" surfaces! Ha! We have already seen plenty of surprises from our old red-faced President Bill. This must be a new kind of post- Presidency conduct. So many firsts from "the Clintons" and none of them good. Remember THEIR White House? Dah?

Jill (not verified) says:

Bill is up to his mind game tricks. He wants you to vote for Romney as the Clinton's see that Mitt is the one that they can beat. You have to get into their heads with this Clinton political machine. I will tell you one thing - they will not be able to beat Mike Huckabee, the governor that cleaned up the mess in Arkansas ! Write it down - take it to the bank! Mike Huckabee is our man - truthful, honest, knowledgeable and full of integrity - they will find no dirt on him. But about Romney, all this flip-flop issues will be brought up along with the "whisperer" on Florida's debate. Think about it!

Am I the only one that noticed that Bill Clinton called Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain close “friends” on purpose? I think Bill and Hillary know that if McCain becomes the Rep. nominee, that Clinton doesn’t stand a chance. McCain may not have the hard core conservative base behind him right now (and Bill is trying to portray him as a liberal with his comment in hopes of crushing his Florida and national candidacy), but with the prospect of Clinton being president, a solid conservative VP, and his direct appeal to moderate Republicans he’ll be able to easily mobilize the entire GOP base to rally behind him. Not to mention the fact that, unlike Hillary, he has MASSIVE appeal to independents. I think the Republicans should be more afraid of Obama (with his same appeal to independents) or even Edwards (with his southern roots), than Clinton, only if, of course, McCain is the nominee; if he’s not, Republicans will lose regardless of the Democratic pick.

Very well said. I agree with you whole-heartedly! Obama would be something new, and very much needed. I think my hope, as that of many others, is that if Obama were elected to the presidency we would see the sort of revolutionary moralistic changes that occurred during the 60's.
