Bill Clinton: Pro-Hillary But Not Anti-Obama

KINGSTREE, S.C.—In the Q&A session of a lovely talk by Bill Clinton (seriously!), an audience member took the microphone and said, "Black America is voting for Obama—a lot of blacks—because he's black." His concern was that then Obama would beat Clinton: "[Republicans] know they can't beat Hillary but they can beat Obama."
After the "mean things" he's said about me, Mr. Clinton responded, "I should be the last person defending anybody." But, he said, "I regret some of the acrimony in this campaign the last few days."
"As an American," he said, "I hope you're not right."
He said that the opposite was true: That he had met people who were voting for his wife because they wanted to pull the lever for a woman for president before they died.
At the start of the town meeting, he'd said "I dont mind when Hillary and Senator Obama argue... I think it's important not to overreact to it."

Personally I think this was "staged". Bill being nice????...and "letting" someone take the michrophone from him. Give me a break!!!
Actually, all three of Clinton's talks today in South Carolina were short speeches followed by longer question and answer sessions; his final speech, going on now in Myrtle Beach, began an hour late because he's spending too much time talking to people. Now, I do feel like I've seen plants--yesterday, at an Obama speech, a man referred to a clipboard for his question (maybe he was just over-prepared?)--but many of the questions Clinton gets are disorganized, or odd, or sometimes wingnutty. So maybe they just can't set up good plants. But then that would destroy the myth of the evil Clinton machine, wouldn't it.
Oh please what horsecrap.
Observer, you are HOURS beind the news on this--have a look at NY Times web site--today Bill accused Obama of putting out a "hit job" on him.
Bill is going nuts and believe me, the GOP is ecstatic--if HRC is nominee, all Bill is doing is REMINDING the country who NO ONE wants these crass crackers back in the White House.
Since Bill feels the media/journalists...and everyone who doesn't do what HE wants because we OWE him...blah, blah, blah...or else! Perhaps it is TIME for the aforementioned to STOP giving him a platform? He is NOT the candidate. STOP playing the Clinton game. Even the WSJ Editorial page GETS IT for goodness sake. STOP COVERING HIM...and only cover the candidate. Then, Hillary will have to stand on HER OWN TWO FEET...finally...and stop crying and/or mocking us ALL, simultaneously. SHUT OFF HIS MICROPHONE! WHO CARES what he says? All he does is LIE.
The Clinton's had their turn in the White House. They could not solve the Health Care Problem or the issues dealing with funding social security because they are both lightning rods. They polarize the country. People either hate them or love them. The problem is that the people who hate them keep them fighting one scandal after another instead of solving the problems facing the nation. They will never bring the country together. Barack Obama can.
I have always been a supporter of the Clinton's in the past.
But when he decided to "do" Monica Lewinskky in the White House he lost my support for a third term. It is obvious to everyone that Hillary is not running for President - Bill
is. I quess he wants to redeem himself. But he doesn't deserve to serve as a co-president. He has left his legacy for the presidency, so he needs to move on.
These last two weeks have shown us what we can expect in the
Billary Co-Presidency - the same kind of bickering and personal attacks that we had to deal with throughout his presidency.
Love Bill, he's a real cool cat. But he needs to move on.
He had his chance. He made a lot of bad choices and we don't owe him an opportunity to redo it.
He also needs to stop telling that lie about leaving a budget surplus. He knows that when an audit was done it was actually a decit equivalent to the surplus he claimed.
It seems as though he overlooked a few things - like social security cost for example.
God bless Bill and Hillary, but please keep them away from the White House. Some very wise people limited the presidecy to two terms.
Loyal but tired of the Clintons.

All the bickering between the Clinton and Obama camps could wind up hurting the nominee in the general election. Regardless of which one of them ends up being the nominee. There's a chunk of the voting populace that just doesn't like Sen. Clinton. This goes back to the days of her husbands Presidency. Many feel she has an image problem of appearing cold and witchy at times. Her attacking Obama doesn't help that image problem.
I think team Clinton has figured out that if hubby Bill does the dirty work, the punches still land on Obama, but Hillary doesn't come off looking nearly as cold or mean. Some of Barack's statements do seem to have been taken out of context. He has to respond back to point out what he was really trying to say. He's got to do this carefully and tactfully though. If Sen Obama hits Bill back a little too hard, he runs the risk of making many Democratic voters who still hold Bill Clinton in high regard, angry. Bill is still a very popular figure in the Democratic party today. Ticklish situation for Obama. Advantage Hillary Clinton. Be careful Sen Obama.

I don't care what others says about Bill Clinton what I'm looking forward to is that when Hillary Clinton become a president of course we know that Bill Clinton will be there to support her and share his knowledge and help Hillary to solve the problem that America is facing now specially the problem in the economy that is bad rightnow coz of this Iraq crafts. Let's just help and support the candidate that who we think that is so qualified to be the next president of the United States We need a dependable, very intelligent, experienced and I know that would be Hillary Clinton.
Bill has a right to support his wife as the other spouses are supporting their husbands. Only difference is, one which is Bill happens to be a former President. People can say what they want about Hillary, but Hillary is the best one in this race and will make a great President. Most have been very unfair about this race, they act as though Obama has no dirt on his hands, well look again! Because his records for public office is open to the public and you can match his public record with what he says and catch him in all kinds of lies. Thats what is so sad about this Election, far too many are going only by what the Media reports and not doing the home work for their self. !*!*!Hillary 08!*!*!
I am sick of hearing about the woman vs black man talk. The media doesn't help either. Hillary Clinton has not once used her gender to gain any ground in this campain. If she is hard and tough people say she is polarizing. When she she shows her softer side she is called calculating. Barack Obama made this a fight about race when Oprah Winfrey stood up behind him talking about Martin Luther King, shouting Barack Is The One. That's when everything changed and Obahma has taken full advantage of it. He sounds more like a preacher not a presidential candidate. The fact's are if you want to swim with the big fish you need to be more than a guppy! Hillary is tough, smart, fair, balanced and most of all a realistic person. She has true vision as to where this country is headed and what needs to be done to fix it. She is by far the more capable of the two. People need to wake up and vote for the most capable.
yes, we all loved bill and even believed him when he flat out lied to all of us!!!..i don't know about you but once trust is broken for me, it has to be earned back and he hasn't shown us that yet..i have heard some people say, "once a liar always a liar" hillary co signed all his lies while he was devastating the country, and having us spend millions on his impeachment..and has been co signing him ever since all the way back to arkansas..i don't mind giving someone a break, but why on earth would i stay in denial when it is so important that we choose someone who can make this country proud, and a bright shiny light to the rest of the world again...if you have watched this election from the beginning it is obvious who started the insanity doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result ie: lying..clinton is lying again and again, trying to drag down the decent people of america again and if we believe him it is our own fault for what we get in the white house again..if you want to go back, at least choose a prestegious and glorious time for the white house and the country...at least choose a class act!!..barack and machelle obama would add a great deal to our image as a couple who would once again make this country proud and our white house shine..they are not only honest and smart and very capable people, but they are also one of the classiest couples to come to washington in a long time..i remember when jack and jackie kennedy came to the white house and the image they gave the rest of the world and it was wonderful!! he did the same thing that bill clinton did..cheating on his wife, but we didn't have to live through his trauma and impeachment and he kept it out of the white house..i am not at all justifying what he did..i am saying though, he didn't bring us down by doing it in the white house..wake up america..bill and hillary are old news, and awful old news..they need to retire and go away..i don't trust her in the white house because i don't believe for one minute she can work across the divide..she hates the republicans, and they hate her..it will never work..give the country a break, and try something new..it will not be good for us to go the old route..it hasn't worked in years, and it won't work for us now...be brave and take a risk..we won't be sorry..vote for real change and that is barack obama!!!
Bill Clinton is a big boy who knows exactly what buttons to push to demonstrate Obama's lack of political prowess. It worries me that people like Oprah have the power to lead the sheep of this country to do their bidding. Take a look at the facts...Obama is a great speaker with little substance or experience behind him. He's built his campaign on the ideals of some great speeches but can't demonstrate any practical experience to support his ability to get things done. People should think about what this country really needs - someone who is ready on day 1 to dive headfirst not only into bringing our troops home but also into the domestic issues that have been ignored for the last 7 years. Healthcare, women's and children's rights, the economy, the mortgage crisis...all of those require a leader with a clear vision and the right contacts and influence to make things happen. That person is Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama is a fad. When push comes to shove will he actually be able to get things done? I'm not convinced.
Hey, Americans wake up! Democrats need candidate who can stood up in the general election. Look what happened to your country when it is governed by Republicans. Aren't you guys tired of the likes of George Bush. You guys are hated by people around the world because of just one man GWB. Be wise, don't waste your vote on candidate who is not bankable. Don't be swayed by mere speeches or charisma. Be more assertive about the platform of government, the substance of what each candidate can offer to address all issues. Learn from the past democratic nominations. This is your chance to restore the Country's image. Vote wisely!
I believe that this individual was right America is going to see for themseleves. America don't say you didnt see it coming. I don't think this was a plan.
How come Obama's wife isn't beatin the drum for him? Bill is a diplomat and has charisma. This is we we need. Bush say's DUH.Diplomacy is what this country needs and Hillary has got it with world leaders, and her countrymen.. She will not take a back seat or anyone. (end of story)
HILLARY RODHAM AND WILLIAM JEFFERSON, THE WORLD’S MOST NOTORIOUS UGLY AMERICAN NEO-LIB CROOKS, DESPERATELY ATTACK OBAMA WITH THEIR BAG OF DIRTY TRICKS TO THEIR OWN FURTHER DETRIMENT.
Why is it that when Hillary or Bill bring up or question Obama's record its an 'attack' but when Obama was in fact attacking Hillary early in the campaign and continues to attack her now its a point of view or something else. Why does the media not hold them up to the same standard. It's time we face up to what an election is and that it does include questioning a candidates record. It also means that the candiate, in this case Obama, owes us an explanation. By explanation I don't mean responding with phrases like 'I'm being attacked because I am now running ahead' or "Hillary will say anything to get nominated", no Obama and the media, I want real answers.
If you are paying attention, Obama has tried hard to bring Hillary's record to question but he doesn't becuase Hillary's record is very positive and therefore he's only other choice is to cry victim and accuse the Clinton's of 'attacks'. How pathetic, Obama drop out of the race and give the citizens back their money. You are a lier and a sleaze and America doesn't need you or your ticks.
America be smart, do your research because I am positive that once you do, you will agree with me and vote for Hillary.
the rhetorical crap spewed from bill and hilary clinton against barack obama the past couple of weeks just confirms what i have always suspected...they are racist degenerates who will say and do anything to get what they want.
bill is a whore and hilary is a woman with low self esteem who allows her husband to pimp her...(why on earth would she want to stay with a man who had an affair, then humiliate her publically when the scandal broke)
Hilary knows Tony Resko....she and Bill knows him very well...remember people Hilary is from Park Ridge ,Il therefore don't be naieve to believe she hasn't dealt with Daley and his fellow gang members(go back through archives of the chicago sun times and tribune)...so she can't criticize barack @ all....does anyone remeber Whitewater and Vince Foster blowing his brains out?????????????
as a white woman who is a conservative republican married to a black man i am ashamed of hilary and bill for they make white people look bad. i am no fan of barack obama but i do see him as a victim in this....
i'll be damned if i vote for him.....
Wow! I cannot believe how gullible we are regarding Obama. One would think he is a “sacred cow”, untouchable. I have problems with someone who whines all the time about somebody attacking him while he is throwing the rock and hiding his hand. I suggest that everyone do what some here has suggested—that is check Obama’s records for yourself. Actually, we do not really know who Obama is, which is somewhat scary. There are so many gaping wholes in his life story. I wish the media would ask the hard questions of him as they have done the Clintons, or Edwards instead of the Clintons having to ask them and then being accused of dirty campaigning. Would we come to John Edwards’ defense if the Clintons were talking about his records or laws suits? Did we question Bill Clinton when he came to the defense of many democrats when they were running for their seats in congress? I say, “What is good for the goose is good for the gander.” The republicans will not worry about being called a racist. They are going to hit and hit hard. They are going to ask about Obama’s cocaine use. They are going to ask who raised him and so forth. Yes, he has admitted doing some things (but the question was about marijuana, and he jokingly said, "I inhaled," then the media praised him for being honest. There were no hard questions about his cocaine use. When I was talking with my 82-year old mother about that a week ago, she disappointed to hear that and had no idea that Obama actually used cocaine. She said, "oh no, I can't go for that.” When people learn the truth, they too will realize they have been snowed--just like Bush did a snow job during his campaign. Many of us believed every word that came out of his mouth. Look where that has gotten us. We need to know everything up front. Do not cover it up!
We have to really look at how the public is being played by the media. Examine the media coverage please. A content analysis of the CNN and Fox coverage of the presidential campaign will show the media favors Rudy and Barack. Instead of covering Hillary, they show Bill. When the republicans were campaigning in SC, they covered Rudy in Florida. Larry King interviewed Rudy two nights ago. We always get to hear the stump speeches of Obama and sometimes Edwards, and almost never of Hillary. Of late, when Hillary is mentioned, it summarily and she is rarely shown speaking “live.” On the other hand, we hear clips of Bill Clinton. Then pundits come in talking about what Bill Clinton is saying and doing to attack Obama. Hillary's voice is being silenced. Let us face it, the media controls what is covered and how something is covered. We have seen Bill Clinton more than Hillary. News reporters ask him questions. His response is reported as news only if it is controversial. Then pundits spend it for days until they can get him to respond to another of their questions.
Show us Hillary pundits and newscasters. She is running for President. Bill Clinton is supporting his wife and he should. She was there for him—just as she committed to do when she said “I do.” “For better, for worst, for richer, for poor, for sickness and in health, until death do us part.” Be proud that someone would suffer actual do that in this time when the more than 50 of marriages end in divorces, when one can discard his older wife for a younger one. Therefore, Hillary actually so far has kept the promise that she made before God and man and we do not like that. Believe me that was probably one of the hardest decision she has ever made. Thankfully, she made it with God’s help and did not allow the public to force her into some kind of revenge. It took courage and an unshakeable faith in God to do it.
Let us wake up. If Obama cannot handle any criticism now, how in the world is he going to handle criticism from the republicans or from around the world? Yes, we all need to unify and get alone--even Rodney King thought we should all get alone. However, what we need right now is someone who can think and function under pressure. Obama has demonstrated that he cannot. Everyone of us has made mistakes and will continue to make them as long as we breathe—Obama included. Speeches are great, but can you answer a question that the people can understand when you have no notes—just your experience, your brain, and your conscience. Obama cannot do that well. He fumbles all over himself and tries to halfway recover with a quote from a stump speech or express some ideal thought of King, Kennedy, or noteworthy person. I want him to answer the questions, and not blame anyone. Just be specific and answer the questions.
As an African American woman who has lived long enough to know that action speaks louder than words, I am voting for Hillary Rodham Clinton on February 5, 2008. I was alive to hear John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Robert Kennedy (though quite young). All of those men's actions spoke louder than their words. Obama is no Jack Kennedy, no Martin King, no Bobby Kennedy, and yes no Bill Clinton. Yes, I want to see a good fight. When you are knocked down, get back up and fight again. That is what debates are supposed to be like. When we see a good fight, we should be elated (I am)--the one who is left standing wins the belt. The media needs to stay out of the way. We do not need pundits to interpret what we saw. We know what we saw. Bring it on Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama, and yes let the pundits ask the hard questions to everyone.
Please leave Bill out of all this! He is only supporting his wife which he should! As far as his past as President,we have not lived so decent since then, as far as messing around on his wife? What diplomat, politician, government official has not? Come on really! Majority just have not got caught!! I give Hillary and Bill credit for sticking together and making it work! That is the kind of strong power I would like in this country!I think they are great and genuine. Unlike the opposition that to me shows no personality, strength and uses his race as his political tower. Hillary 2008!!!!!!!!
EACH DAY AS AN AMERICAN I BECOME MORE SORELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE POLITICAL PROCESS AND ALL WHO ARE INVOLVED.
PARTY POLARIZATION SHALL ALWAYS EXIST REGARDLESS OF WHICH ONE OCCUPIES THE WHITE HOUSE. AND NONE HAS RESOLVED THE MYRIAD OF ISSUES-TERRORISM, HEALTH CARE, UNEMPLOYMENT ETC.- IT EPIDEMALOGICALLY PASSES ON WHILE FINGERS POINT AT THE OPPOSING PREDECSSOR.
WE DID NOT IMPEACH BILL CLINTON. HE SEEMED TO PUT THE TERRORISM REPORTS ON THE BACK BURNER, HE SEALED NAFTA, AND BROUGHT ABOUT THE DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLES BETWEEN PRIME MINISTER YITZHAK RABIN AND YASSER ARAFAT,PLO WITH THAT FIRST-EVER HANDSHAKE OF PHOTO-OPPORTUNITY(1993). YET, THROUGH IT ALL HE SOMEHOW HAD MY RESPECT AS A CHANGE AGENT. TODAY, IN THE WAKE OF SUPER TUESDAY, THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS, THE KENNEDY ENDORSEMENTS, I SEE HIM USING THE SAME MONARCHIAL TACTICS OF OUR CURRENT ADMINISTRATION TO SEAT HILLARY IN THE WHITE HOUSE. IT IS NOT TO BE HIS THIRD TERM BUT HER FIRST-finally her chance to make a significant difference. I NOW REFLECT ON HOW DIFFERENT THINGS MIGHT BE IF SHE WERE RUNNING AS HILLARY RODHAM.
AND I ASK IS MR. CLINTON EXHIBITING SIGNS OF THE RETIRED ALL-STAR ATHLETE, NO LONGER, GARNERING THE ADRENALIN RUSH OF ADORING FANS, AS EVIDENCED BY HIS RECENT ACTIONS, but better yet COSTING HER VOTES.
I agree with the female who said the following:

What's good for the goose is good for the gander...Obama's victim act is getting old. He is great at "preaching" and quoting other poets/writers/leaders;
But when asked direct questions to give details of his actual plan layout. He stammers and appears to not know the specifics. He already stated that he is not organized and has people around him do the reading, document holding, etc. President worthy...um I think not!
