Movin' Out! Billy Joel to Play Shea's Last Show

Billy Joel will have those Mets fans feelin' alright at Shea Stadium the night before the all-star game. On July 16th, "The Last Play at Shea," starring the Top 40 star, will be the final concert at the stadium before the Mets move to their new digs at Citi Field.
"Shea Stadium is one of the most hallowed venues in rock and roll history and it's an honor to help throw Shea the ultimate concert farewell party," Mr. Joel said in a statement obtained by the Czar. "As a sports fan and a music lover, I will always have a place for Shea Stadium in my heart. I thank the Mets for giving me and my fans a chance to rock Shea Stadium one last time for the ages."
According to that press release, Mr. Joel's July 16 performance at Shea will put a punctuation mark on America's birthplace of stadium rock. Shea Stadium played host to the Beatles on August 15, 1965, the first concert to be held at a major sports arena. Other rock and roll hall of famers to play Shea include the Rolling Stones, The Who, The Police, Simon & Garfunkel, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Even Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix made a little known appearance at Shea for the 1970 Summer Festival for Peace.
Tickets for "Last Play at Shea" go on sale Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. at www.507tixx.com.

last concert my "rear" whomever the promoter is shold be sued in a class action suit because this is advertising fraud. How many thousands of people paid to see the "last concert in Shea" just to find out that another Billy Joel concert was added on the 18th. I for one will look to join any others who want to file suit.
I agree - this was billed as the last event at Shea - I am sure many people bought these tickets at these high prices with the knowledge of this being the last concert at shea. I hope someone comes forward with a class action suit.
If they had originally announced two "last play at shea" shows, one can certainly see that the friday concert would have commanded much more interest than the wednesday concert. A second show to accomodate fans would usually be welcomed. But, not when you advertise it as "THE LAST PLAY AT SHEA." The draw of the last concert was my main reason to buy tickets. The promotor dupped the fans.
he said he will do it again !!!!
ticket scalpers are still getting great prices
and i plan on selling 4 of my tix for friday night and going for free yessssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!plus make some looot
Yeah----really ticked me off too when I heard last night about the "added" show! I wouldn't have bought tickets for Wed if I had known........
I would definitely join a suit...what was done was not fair at all. No way would I have paid 100 per ticket for nose bleed seats if I knew it was not in fact going to be the last show at Shea. I like Billy Joel but not that much...I just wanted to be there for the last show and now I won't be, I be there for the second to last show...what a crock. Absolutely false advertising!
I am considering placing the charge in dispute on my credit card. I really am very upsent over the disception with pharses like "final concert" that were used to promote the 7-16 concert. I paid for tickets to what was billed as the final concert at Shea. That is not what I got. Billy and his promotors really botched this whole thing. There is no reason they couldn't have sold friday first and then added wed. That way everyone would have know what they were really buying.
we are pursuing a class action. would you like to be a plaintiff? please contact me at 516-742-9200
