The Bipartisan Crowd at McCain's Speech in Bay Ridge
John Turnbull, the owner of Windows We Are, Inc. in Bay Ridge, where John McCain is set to deliver a speech with an introduction by Michael Bloomberg, just told me he's a Democrat and voted for Al Gore in 2004 2000.
But being a Democrat in Bay Ridge is sort of like being a Republican on the Upper West Side.
When I asked if he thought Bloomberg would make a good vice presidential candidate, he smiled politely and said he didn't know.
Walking by in a blue suit and green tie was George Prezioso, a vice chairman of the G.O.P. in Brooklyn. He told me he thinks McCain needs a vice president with strong conservative credentials, like Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida.
So, not Bloomberg, I said.
"He's a Democrat," he said.
