Disgraceful that a newspaper in New York would validate the SPECTACLE we are seeing with the Clintons' race-baiting. African-Americans should immediately re-register as INDEPENDENTS and begin a movement to draft Michael Bloomberg to either a) RUN, or, b) help Mr. Obama. This is a TRANSFORMATIONAL moment, America. We are LEAVING the Democratic Party. No African-American can face their children in the 21st Century if someone like Mr. Obama can be race-baited out of the race by a former DEMOCRATIC President who lost HIS law license, lied under Oath, etc. No problem. The New York Times should have REJECTED these two. THEY WILL NOT WIN THE ELECTION.

Al Gore, where are you? We need your help or the Nation will most assuredly have a President Huckabee!

leelee (not verified) says:

i hope this isn't true. it would be a crime if the nyt rewards the terrible behavior of both reprehensible clintons.

renatam (not verified) says:

The NYT just endorsed "the Clinton" (they are a two-fer) with nary a note about the race-baiting on display. On the contrary, they validated her "wins" in NH and Nevada. Clearly, the NYT has NO PROBLEM with this dysfunctional couple's dynastic ambitions -- or the un-American Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton SPECTACLE. Finally, their comments re Mr. Obama were patronizing, expecially when one considers what Bill Clinton was in 1992. African-Americans and ALL people who care about America -- become INDEPENDENTS. LEAVE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. Follow Mayor Bloomberg! Don't throw away your vote or allow special interests which the NYT must be thinking about -- hijack your vote. Maybe Lou Dobbs is right! LEAVE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY...to Bob Johnson!

renatam (not verified) says:

She may get the Nomination...and the NYT...but she has to get by AMERICANS outside of NH and SC who know how to THINK.

Cheers from NY (not verified) says:

Good choices all around. A fight between Hillary and McCain would be pretty cool. I read the editorial and yeah the NYT made a pretty big deal out of dissing Giuliani. Funny stuff…..

I'm disappointed. But thank you, Observer, for endorsing Obama.

renatam (not verified) says:

The NYT just endorsed the REPUBLICAN Nominee by this act. They know the Clintons have already divided the Democratic Party. The NYT would never have endorsed Barack Obama and gone against the power base in New York which was hijacked by "the Clintons" when they arrived. Put the NYT in the same league of Charlie Rangel/Bob Johnson, Bob Kerry and countless others who (embarassingly for them) bend to the will of the Clintons and their FINGER WAGGING, insulting or lecturing anyone/everyone. We should ALL ask WHY???

What a bunch of morons. The press has turned this into a race war.

West Virginian (not verified) says:

How strange that the Obama supporters praise the media that endorse the candidate of their choice, then condemn the media that endorse their choice.

They sound like children on the playground in elementary school.

Isn't it wonderful we have freedom of the press?

I do not support Obama, but I do not condemn the " NEW YORK OBSERVER"

Shareef (not verified) says:

Given that Obama grossly manipulated Hillary Clinton's that it's "the Clintons" who are race-baiting.

Ha!

Back in Iowa, Obama wanted no part of being black; he was the post-racial unifying candidate. Then, when he lost New Hampshire and Nevada and realized that he needed to win South Carolina, he became black again, speaking at churches, referring to black men as "brothas," etc.

What a joke.

As far as racism goes, all the evidence indicates that the true adherents of so-called identity politics are blacks.
After all, Obama won a staggering 83 percent of the black vote in Nevada and figures to get a similar percentage in South Carolina. These are clearly racist numbers, but as is always the case, black racism gets a free pass from the media elites who are scared to draw attention to it lest they, in pointing out the racism of blacks, be labeled "racists," themselves by true self-promoting race-baiters like Sharpton and Jackson.

It's noteworthy that Obama's sole victory came in a 94-percent white state. Does anyone suppose there's a snowball's chance in hell that Hillary Clinton could win a 94-percent black state?

It is refreshing to hear from an intelligent, well read person for a change.

The first sentence above should have read:

Given that Obama grossly manipulated Hillary Clinton's LBJ COMMENT, it's amazing that some accuse "the Clintons" of race-baiting.

renatam (not verified) says:

Shareef: Here is just a teeny bit of realism for YOU! You have company. Joan Walsh of Salon.com, ever the Clinton supporter-as-journalist, is now spinning that the Clintons have been unfairly tarnished as having stoked Southern racial divisions -- just in time for the CA an NY Primaries -- a sophisticated brushing up of the Clintons' Southern Strategy. So, for the record -- Bob Herbert's Op-Ed today reminds us of the TRUTH since Iowa/NH where the Clintons were stunned and VERY secure about their Northern Strategy. If you also add the remarkable SPECTACLE of Bob Johnson comparing Barack to Sidney Poitier in a movie (a United States Senator?) and Hillary Clinton clapping watching the performance, you will realize it Joan Walsh and Salon.com that has left their journalistic credentials. It is not her job of that of any CA feminist journalist to CLEAN UP the Clintons' Southern Strategy ACT, nor is it David Schuster or Chuck Todd's. Also, WHY does it matter how the vote is split in SC, racially? It doesn't. Chuck Todd, African-Americans are equal to White Iowans and rural NH residents. STOP diminishing the African-American votes...or that of women who back Hillary. If Barack WINS, he WINS. The EXPERIENCE outlined below is what we all need to walk away from -- once and for all.

NYTimes.com - 1/26/08

This week, while making the remarkable accusation that the Obama camp was responsible for raising the race issue, Mr. Clinton mentioned Andrew Young as someone who would bear that out. It was an extremely unfortunate reference.

Here’s what Mr. Young, who is black and a former ambassador to the United Nations, had to say last month in an interview posted online: “Bill is every bit as black as Barack. He’s probably gone with more black women than Barack.”

He then went on to make disgusting comments about the way that Bill and Hillary Clinton defended themselves years ago against the fallout from the former president’s womanizing. That’s coming from the Clinton camp!
