Clinton Campaign Sees Symbolism in Hallmark Channel for Feb. 4 National Town Hall

Hillary Clinton’s "national town hall" in New York on Monday will air on the Hallmark channel in the 22 states voting on February 5th.

On a conference call with reporters just now, campaign spokesman Blake Zeff said it was the “culmination” of the technological outreach they’ve employed since the campaign began.

When I asked why it was airing on the Hallmark channel, Anthony Weiner, who was also on the call, said, “We’re using the Hallmark channel to point out that the hallmark of the Clinton campaign is to focus on the substance and the challenges that we have in the four years ahead. To point out that the hallmark of this campaign is using technology to reach voters is to bring them into the process as much as possible, and to point out that the hallmark of this campaign is to make decisions based on who will be ready to govern on Day One."

Weiner added, "We thought the Hallmark Channel would be an important place to make those points.”

Zeff added, “When you care enough to send the very best, Hallmark.”

There's a Hallmark Channel?

Jasmine Bryant (not verified) says:

It's funny that Clinton chose the Hallmark channel seeing that her constituents (blue-collar women, high school grads,low-income, etc.) probably can't afford cable tv. Didn't she realize that its a subscription channel. So much for reaching her demographics.

Hillary Clinton is the smartest and most able candidate running for the Presidency. If we all cared about each other the way the other major candidates say we should care for one other, then why does everyone enjoy tearing down Hillary Clinton?

Mary (not verified) says:

The demographics are wrong, just like the pundits...there are a lot of us college educated gals out here campaigning for Hillary. She's exceptional!!!!

All you women out there.

Women had to fight for the vote in the United States. It took 75 years to finally get the vote. Why did women have to fight for the vote anyway? Have you ever asked that question to yourself? If we do not put Hillary in the White House NOW we probably will have to wait another 75 years. Get it ladies?. Women are just as smart or even smarter than some of the presidents we've had in this country. We have a qualified woman who wants to be president. PUT HER IN OFFICE. I wouldn't worry about Bill running this presidency either. She can handle it alone and I believe she will call her own shots. I have asked many males if they are going to vote for her and I get a NO answer I have not met one male that said they would vote for her. Not because she isn't qualified, because she is a woman. Get it?

Women in this country have more power than they think and in this election you can prove it.

I agree completely with "Anonymous". Women have waited so long for a woman President. We have a strong and qualified candidate....let's do all we can elect her....don't know when we'll get this opportunity again.

Women of America, unite and vote for Hillary.

BTW: For those who do not have cable, you can watch the Town Hall on hillaryclinton.com.

I am a 50 year old Asian woman and I support Hillary all the way to the White House. I support Bill Clinton also for standing up for his wife. And having a daughter like Chelsea is every parent's dream.

Eva Dolke (not verified) says:

This will drain her funds and hinder her ability to compete down the road. It is a terribly flawed strategy.

Her base is older white women and she already gets their vote and she will no matter what. They want a womyn and there is nothing that will sway them . . . you know who you are. But all the money Hillary spends on this media buy will not convert voters from the rest of the electorate; the truth has become pretty clear, the more they see her, the faster they defect. In CA, Obama has collapsed a 27 point lead to a statistical dead heat in a matter of weeks. In the latest Zogby poll, he leads by 4%!

At the end of the day, the problem is that Hillary is unelectable. Even members of EMILY'S list (they donate money to get women elected to public office) have started to endorse Obama because they know she cannot win. I am dismayed that folks would vote on gender or race, but I accept it. But likewise, the folks that do vote on gender need to accept the fact that their support is hard to justify to the rest of the world. And they need to accept that motivation as the basis of rejection.

I am thrilled to be able to see the "family" on this channel. It's going to be even greater to see the looks on all of your faces come TUESDAY when Hillary WINS! SHE will. This country will elect the RIGHT person with the experience to get us out of the mess we are in now. We don't need HOPE: we need HILLARY!

Carol Taylor (not verified) says:

THE DEMOCRATS SHOULD BAN TOGETHER UNLESS THEY WANT ANOTHER REPULIBCAN PRESIDENT. AND THE ONLY CANDIDATE SHOULD BE HILLARY CLINTON.

DEMOCRATS APPEAR TO BE A "BOY'S CLUB" ...AT THE MOMENT JUST WANT TO NOT HAVE A WOMAN PRESIDENT.

THE TIME FOR CHANGE IS HERE AND IT IS HILLARY CLINTON

Bart Taylor (not verified) says:

There are many mean spirited voters out there. We, in our household, are for Hillary 100% both male and female. She is the best and the brightest. Listen carefully to what she says and her body language. What clinched our decisions not to vote for Mr. Obama was his squinting eyes showing disdain during the last debate. He also turned his back on Mrs. Clinton. He is also a pointer which is a dictatorial sign like some teachers who is trying to control the kids. His handlers apparently did not coach him sufficiently. He is a wonderful salesman who, to me does not have basic respect for woman. Hillary, on the otherhand'g showed someone talking from the heart. She is a good balance of heart and brain and a wonderful example for our daughters. If Mr. Obama is the final candidate we are voting for McCain. The world is in such a mess we need someone with experience, connections and stability.

My husband (a registered republican) and I (registered democrat) are both voting for HIllary, listening to the debates she is knowledgeable, savvy and experienced to a degree that Obama has yet to achieve.
She is our gal!
