Cloverfield Sequel In the Works

The director of Cloverfield is in early talks with the studio to make a sequel, Variety reports. With a bargain-basement budget ($25 million), Cloverfield scored a $46 million opening, smashing the record for a Martin Luther King Day weekend. Cloverfield's box office grosses are taking a nosedive now that the big mystery of who or what ravaged our city streets is solved and we're not sure how director Matt Reeves is going to destroy New York again. But Paramount is trying to convince producer J.J. Abrams and writer Drew Goddard to make them more money.
