The Media Mob

David Shuster Will Return to NBC In Time for Debate

Not only will David Shuster, the MSNBC talent who got into trouble over claiming the Clinton campaign had "pimped out" former first daughter Chelsea on the hustings, be returning to the network; his suspension will have lasted two weeks, and he'll be back in time for the NBC-sponsored debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama Feb. 26. Broadcasting & Cable reports:

The Clinton campaign had threatened to boycott the debate, but with Sen. Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) feeling the heat from now-front-runner Barack Obama (Ill.), Clinton needs the exposure the debate will generate as much as, if not more than, MSNBC does.

I welcome back the insightful reporting of Mr. Shuster. This action by the always timid media shows how weak Billary has become. Gee, maybe Huckabee is correct, there is a God!!

I heard and saw David make the remark. I think the punishment did not fit the crime. Shame on you MSNBC!!!!!!

Hurray!!! Yippee! I'm so happy David Shuster is coming back! He is a great reporter who manages to be exciting in his reporting while being factual and terse.

I agree, with the previous statement. The punishment didn't fit the crime. True, a poor choice of words, his a quick apology should have been enough. I chalk it up to the hysteria surrounding the Primaries. When you consider what others get away with on other networks, it seems so unfair. I only watch "Tucker" when David is on and hope he gets his own show.

I'm glad David Shuster is returning! He's fair and factual in his reporting. I think his comment was merely an unfortunate choice of words, not a "crime" worth suspension. Shuster shouldn't have used the word "pimped," to be sure, but on the other hand, I'm so very tired of the Clintons trying to supress the freedom of the press. Who do they think they are and why are the media so afraid of them?

I didn't think it was fair that Dave was suspended. If Chelsea is going to compaign for her mother, she is fair game like the the other candidates. I am sick and tired that everytime the Clinton's don't like what is being said or done, they complain and somehow get their way. Why doesn't she follow the rules and disclose her income tax returns as requested. I think it will be a terrible mistake if she is the nominee because we will have her and Bill to contend with. As in the past, he was dishonest and not truthful about Monica Lewinsky and I am afraid of what they might do when back in the White House.

I'm so glad David will be back tomorrow. It was an unfortunate choice of words, but he was correct about what the Clintons have done with their own daughter. Chelsea should not be allowed to make pleas to the super delegates on behave of her mother without the press being able to question her. I'm very tired of Hillary trying to cheat her way into the White House.

So Glad to see David back. Maybe it was a poor choice of words, but when one is live on the air so much, something is bound to slip out. I find it amazing that after all Bill Clinton did in the White House to embarass this country that the Clinton's would want someone's head on a silver platter just for a poor choice of words. It is scary to think about Bill Clinton bouncing around the White House with nothing to do. Look at the trouble he got into when he was "busy".

I'm glad David Shuster is back. He really is a talented TV journalist who has a great future. While his "pimp" comment was imprudent, I don't believe it warranted a suspension. MSNBC overreacted.

Republicans habitually lie and distort almost everything, and there's (almost) never retribution.

Chops (not verified) says:

The punishment absolutely did not fit the crime--especially when you compare his comments to Bill O'Reilly's, "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence" comments. It's such a double-standard. Shuster talks about the Clinton's 'pimping' out Chelsea and gets suspended (!!!) for two weeks and Bill O'Reilly talks about lynching Michelle Obama, and not a peep from Fox? So, ridiculous.

Mollymoor (not verified) says:

Cannot understand how MSNBC could have unfairly fired him in the first place..correctly the punishment did not justify the crime! Look what all those nasty mouthed radio hosts say..at any rate..it will be nice to see and hear Dave Schuster back delivering his concise and unbiased news. Welcome Back Dave..
