State Senate Democrat Opposes Own Pay Raise

Craig Johnson, a Democratic State Senator in a Republican marginally Democratic-leaning district in Nassau County, just issued this statement vowing to vote against a legislative pay raise, which Eliot Spitzer reportedly supports:

"With the softening economy, a looming state budget battle over the fate of our schools and our children, and the mountain of legislative work that this majority seems to have little interest in completing, I do not think it is appropriate, or prudent, to be considering a legislative pay raise at this time. I will vote against such a bill if it comes to the floor."

He, so far, is the first Democrat to come out against it.

Good for Craig Johnson. Why should these clowns get a pay raise for a part-time job? If Senator Johnson starts talking about term limits, I may have to kiss him.

Again it shows that "Our State Government" does not care for the people they work for. All of them should reject this raise until my Property & School Taxes come down by the hundreds of dollars.

1 - All these "Political Hacks" have a "Part Time Job" in Albany, maybe 3 months of work per year.

2 - All of these "Political Hacks" receive "Lu-Lu's" (Extra $$$ given to them for working on a committees" accounts for $6,000 to $18,000 per year added to their salaries.

3 - All of these "Political Hacks" receive a "Stipend" which is over $130.00 per day for every day they are in Albany conducting their games.

According to Johnson's statement found in other blogs, he will be donating the pay raise to worthy non-profits in his district. The statement also notes that "first on the list" would be organizations that had member item funds secured by his predecessor Mike Balboni, only to have them revoked by the Senate Republicans after his election.
