Edwards Sides With Obama, Clinton Gets Really Mad

Hillary Clinton finally got angry.
Less than a week after losing her front-runner status with a crushing loss in the Iowa caucuses, she found herself fighting for her political life on the stage of Saint Anselm College.
She went directly after Barack Obama, attacking him for what she said were inconsistent positions on health care and funding for the war in Iraq, and arguing that he had not received sufficient vetting.
She met with a concentrated, and combined, backlash from Obama and John Edwards, who needs to end Clinton’s candidacy to have any chance of staying viable.
“He could have a pretty good debate with himself,” Clinton said of Obama. She said to him, “You have changed your positions in three years.” And: “What we are looking for is a president we could count on.”
After weeks of complaining that the media was handling Obama with kid gloves, she had clearly decided to take the matter into her own hands.
“There is a lot of room to ask all of us questions,” she said, adding that she “it is fair for people to understand” that Obama was guilty of many of the things he had campaigned on changing.
While Obama sought to respond to Clinton on the merits of her attacks, Edwards went for the throat, casting himself and Obama as a united front against the salvos of Clinton, the insider.
“Both of us are powerful voices for change,” he said. He added, devastatingly “May I point out that we finished first and second in the Iowa caucus,” and, “I didn’t hear these types of attacks from Senator Clinton when she was ahead, but now we do.”
Edwards’ razor-sharp counter-attacks allowed Obama to seem more measured, but had the effect of absolutely enraging Clinton. She fumed that while her two adversaries talked a good came about change, she had actually accomplished it.
"I want to make change, but I have already made change,” she said, almost screaming.

This comment above seems very sexist. Hillary was fully justified in getting mad because Edwards was being a total a-hole to her. If she had been a man, you'd be praising her for being tough.
It seems to me that the media is not giving Hillary a fair shake. I think that she is as much positive coverage as her counterparts.
Hillary wasn't screaming, IMHO. It's called spunk! It was good to see her finally willing to kick@ss and take names.
And I agree with David D that the last sentence in your post, Jason, was very sexist.
For Edwards you use phrases like "went for the throat" and "razor sharp attacks." As soon as a woman gets forceful, she's "screaming" according to you.
Get your act together, dude.
I watched it and she did seem to be pretty close to screaming. Not quite but pretty close. She began the attack but should have been able to handle a retort better than becoming enraged. I don't think think the article was sexist, more a slightly embellished but accurate observation of her actions. As far as the media giving her a fair shake, what about all the coverage in the past year claiming she is the inevitable winner? Maybe she is starting to show that she isn't one.
Clinton set herself up by patronizing Edwards. She was telegraphing to Edwards that he should join her in taking Obama down a notch or two. It was a bold gambit, perhaps a desperate gambit. And it backfired.
Hillary lost it. I had the feeling I was watching the Wicked Witch of the West just before meltdown. . .
Obama and Edwards better watch out. They might end up in Fort Marcy Park like another of Hillary's ex-lovers. At this point that appears the only way that Hillary Clinton is going to win this nomination.
Both Obama and Edwards are right to challenge her. Democratic voters need to see how she handles being disagreed with. Think about it if she can't handle a panty waiste like John Edwards what chance does she have against a Rudy Guilianni? She isn't about anything except her own glorification. That doesn't make you fit to be president.
As to the article being sexist, if she were a Republican and had spoken to Obama in that condesending manner she would be labled her a KKK member.
Edwards can't be elected as an agent forchange as long as he takes money from the trial lawyers and opposses tort reform to lower the cost of health care. His perfect hair and manacured nails make him hard to relate to as well as a candidate for the working class voter.
Mr. Obama is a different story.
Both Mrs. Clinton and Obama have about the same amount of governmental experience. Both are far to socialist for my taste but Obama has these point working in his favor.
Obama is far less slimy.
Obama has far less negative baggage.
Obama had nothing to do with Hillary Care, cattle futures, The Watewater development, failed savings and loans, stolen FBI files, Vince Foster, or drug deliveries in rural Arkansaw airports.
Obama is a much better public speaker.
Obama has a better stage presence and works an audience like a pro.
Obama also seems to be better able to take criticism.
Obama appears smarter than Hillary
Obama appears to at least have a sense of humor
Obama is better looking.
Obama is not married to Bill Clinton.
Ladies and gentlemen. Barak Obama may be the next president. Hillary Clinto will not be.
So typical, calling any challenge of Hillary "sexist." What a lame comeback.
Just shut up with the racists, sexist meme, no one is intimidated by that nonsense anymore. If Hillary can't take it, she needs to get the heck out.
"Change" as these people use it, undefined and apparently for its own sake, is more akin to just doing something, even if it's wrong. Any one of these three as President starts will be a bobsled to hell for America.
Hillary is so used to getting her way through intimidation, bullying that she doesn't know how to deal with someone who is not scared of her or her mob of Clintinistas.
She is a brittle, nasty woman who has not self-awareness because she has not needed it. All of her professional life she has had someone to beat up on her opponents.
Her philosophy is that if you are against her, you are not merely having a difference of opinion, you are instantly and enemy who has to be be broken and destroyed. That is the kind of person she is.
Make no mistake about it, any regime that she would run would be secretive, controlling, and would use all of the federal power at her disposal to destroy anyone who tried to oppose her.
Let's assume for the moment there is sexism at work here. What happens if clinton wins the presidency and must deal with a room full of middle-eastern leaders who don't even shake hands with women?
Defense of Hillary Clinton here, with HER record of lies, obfuscation and criminality? Please. Aside from that she's got zero experience to bring to the office of POTUS except that she managed Bill's Bimbo Eruptions and said, "I can't recall" 124 times in sworn testimony. And she is being actually defended? Geez, your memories are short.
The Hillary campaign is just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic with this sudden heightened change message. All I heard was her continually saying "change", but nothing substantially new. Who is going to believe that with all the same Clintonistas still hanging around? Obama has too much momentum now and there is no time for her to catch him. She is also very hard to listen to. Terrible speaker in my opinion.
Looks to me like Edwards is angling for VP again.
Hillary needs to run away from the "change" meme. She has lost that battle. Now it makes her look like she is just desperate
Experience? nope that won't wash either. She has EXPOSURE, not experience. She may have advised her hubby, but she was not there. She is making stuff up, again.
Change? With Hillary? To what? I don't think so.
Change means new, she is of the old, establishment. We need fresh air, she doesn't provide this.
If Hillary actually becomes President and raises taxes 'change' is all the American people will have left!
But Deiter, she said she needed to take away some stuff from others for the common good! GACK!
The dyke was screaming at the black man and I believe she soiled herself
Clinton looked pathetic. What a loser!
When is someone going to ask Hillary to detail the "Thirty-five years" of experience she continually cites?
To my knowledge the first elected office she earned was as senator from New York. Other than than, she was Bill's wife. Did I miss something?
It is moronic to call someone sexist in this political arena.
We are NOT electing a man or a woman, black or white, Italian or Irish...we are electing a PRESIDENT to lead the people of this country and to be able to speak with OTHER LEADERS. Can you imagine President Hillary Clinton coming home after speaking with PUTIN or any other world leader, complaining that they treated her badly because she is a woman.
Her people need to tell her to grow up...she's not in Kansas anymore and Bill is just an old, pale, rotting has been.
There is no way any of this is sexist. Looks to me as though some of the comments here are planted by the Clinton Machine.
Ask yourself one question. Do you want four or eight years of her or for that matter for Obama or Edwards? They are all political hacks. We are electing a President, not someone that says I am a Woman, Or I am black, or I am rich and will help the little people that have nothing. Wake up people.
It is interesting that the racist, sexist et al meme is no longer playing well in politics. It worked for years to shut down any dissenting opinions.
I would have to agree with a number of other posters who , rightly I believe, suspect that a number of early posters were from the Clinton camp. The first shot out of the box was "sexist."
When you live by the sexist invective then you die by the sexist invective. There i9s a moment when crying Wolf no longer works, but I suspect that is all the Clintons know.
What I want to know is this: Why hasn't anyone questioned Obama about his support for the coal industry? He's on the take from them. This should be made front and center.

As a person who dislikes (hates) everthing HRC and BC do I wished somebody had the guts to ask her: Mrs. Clinton, in the last four years, how many times have you and your husband shared the same bed?"
They stand on the podium hand in hand, coochie-coo. All the time knowing about the published and the unpublished affairs. Sickning, please, see through their facade.
dutch
Looking at the numbers, wouldn't it be less distracting to indicate when a Poster is "verified" rather than "not verified"?
Further,as to "verified" or "not verified", What is truth? Posters provide pixels, and that is that.
Did you see how she glared at the others as she stuck her finger in their faces? Like she was lecturing them. I am not surprised that she did this, it is only surprising that she didn't have the self control not to do it in public.
Oh and another thing, though rather petty, as a woman, I have to ask, why does she wear such awful outfits? Who is her stylist? Please! She always looks disheveled and unwashed. Kinda grubby. Look at the other candidates. Wash your hair Hillary and for Pete's sake get a jacket that doesn't hit you right at the hips!!!! A long jacket, or a short jacket, but not that horrid, Dress Barn outfit.
Rant off!
When Hillary dropped her fake facade and did her eye-popping, angry fusillade towards Edwards and Obama, viewers finally saw what poor Bill sees all the time--Hillary as vicious shrew.
Hillary is not used to having anyone cross her. She knowns how to deal with those poor suckers who work for her. She shouts them down or glares at them.
She can't do this to the other candidates. She can't intimidate them. This makes her furious since that has been her MO for her entire life.
Attack, attack, attack until anyone who would dream of correcting her doesn't. This has put her at a disadvantage since she can't get good advice on anything since people don't want to deal with her temper.
She did this to herself, and now she gets advice from sycophants and Bubba, who is out for himself.
Too bad, nasty woman, you have done yourself in.
