Fossella Admits Affair and Love Child

Vito Fossella's office just released this statement from the congressman:
“I have had a relationship with Laura Fay, with whom I have a three year old daughter.
"My personal failings and imperfections have caused enormous pain to the people I love and I am truly sorry.
"While I understand that there will be many questions, including those about my political future, making any political decisions right now are furthest from my mind.
“Over the coming weeks and months, I will to continue to do my job and I will work hard to heal the deep wounds I have caused.”
The statement does not say whether he will seek reelection.
UPDATE: Michael Long, chair of the State Conservative Party, who learned of Fossella's confession from my inquiry, said, "I think it's rather damaging."
Long would not say if he or the party--which has endorsed Fossella in each of his City Council and congressional races--would support him for another race, or ask him to step down: "I think I'm going to reserve comments until I speak to him."
If a congressional vacancy were to occur before July 1, the governor could call a special election, I'm told.
UPDATE II: A spokesman for Staten Island District Attorney Dan Donovan, who reportedly has already fielded a phone call about the race from Al D'Amato, when reached for comment, said, "This is a tragic time for the congressman and his family on Staten Island. Any comment beyond that would be inappropriate."

So, who has the more embarrassing sex scandal, Spitzer or Fossella? It's a tossup.
Unless Spitzer has a love child stashed away somewhere, Fossella's scandal is not only the more embarrassing, but also the more destructive. And I don't mean to his political career. He has a wife and three children in Staten Island who are now reeling.
Spitzer, McGreevey, Fossella. The sense of entitlement these hacks have is astounding.
And kudos to the Daily News for cracking this story open in record time.
Fossella is much worse because his votes against contraception for Third World women is MATRICIDE. I'll bet Laura Fay isn't his only mistress (a poster on another site mentioned another mistress connected to his City Council days), and I'll bet he's paid for some scandal-averting abortions. He owes Bill Maher and HBO abject apologies for Maher's biting truth about the pedophile-serving Vatican.
The reason Staten Islanders got this frat boy rammed down their throats is because Guy Molinari needed someone to fill the seat when his daughter Susan's sex scandal (her husband Bill Paxon was allegedly seeing Brit Hume's son, Sandy, who subsequently committed suicide.)
Staten Island is a giant cesspool of corruption and could use as many aggressive journalists on not only Fossella but Mobinaro, Mobinari, and The Staten Island RAGvance as possible.
