Brennan Weighs in With Fund-Raising Numbers, Will Count on Matching Funds

To the fund-raising numbers for comptroller candidates Adolfo Carrion, Melinda Katz, David Yassky, and David Weprin -- all hovering around the million dollar mark -- add a total for one more candidate.

Jim Brennan’s campaign announced just now that he’s raised $144,000 in this most recent fund-raising period, bringing his total amount of contributions up to $405,000, they said. That leaves him with $280,000 on hand, according to spokeswoman Linda Gross.

Brennan’s campaign estimates they are also eligible for about $670,000 in matching funds from the city’s Campaign Finance Board.

Impressive numbers from the top 3 Comptroller candidates. Should we bunch Katz, Carion and Yassky as the 3 front runners? Weprin better turn around his operation if he wants to compete, Mr. Finance Chairman!

I was very unimpressed with Adolfo's fundraising numbers. I thought he was running for Mayor until December and then dropped down. Now we know why he dropped down - he wasn't raising any money. I was expecting Adolfo to have similar numbers to the other Mayoral candidates (at least $1 million) and instead he raised less than $500,000 - pathetic!

The clear front runner is Melinda Katz. She continues to raise serious money and leads in the fundraising race.

Yassky had very good numbers but this was his first filing of fundraising. Let's see if he can keep pace with Ms. Katz in the next six months.

It is pretty apparent the other "boys" (Carrion and Weprin) are unable to keep up with the front runner, Ms. Katz.

The next six months will show which one of these "boys" will be trying to compete with Ms. Katz.

All of the other "chatter" is meaningless, the money shows who the front runner really is.

You "boys" better get your act together before Ms. Katz locks up this nomination.

I am sorry about the repeat posting, my computer froze and reset the posting a few times.

Well, I'm a constituent of Jim Brennan's and he has the most expeience, best track record, and has never been bullied by the forces in Albany. Brennan has been quietly out there fundraising for a while - and most of his contributors are just regular registered voters, not giant corps. My money's on Brennan.
