Jim Gennaro, the silver-haired City Councilman who chairs the Environmental Committee, is featured in a new film that’s being screened at Sundance Film Festival, along with Woody Harrelson and Julia Roberts.
The documentary, called "Fields of Fuel” investigates the causes of and possible solutions to the United States’ dependency on foreign oil.
From a Council statement on the movie:
In the film, Council Member Gennaro speaks about a new piece of legislation he has authored that, if signed into law, will mandate all heating oil sold in New York City to contain a specified minimum concentration of biodiesel fuel while strictly limiting its sulfur content. Specifically, the bill would require the city’s heating oil to be least 20% biodiesel by 2013 with a maximum sulfur concentration of 15 parts per million.
