Yo, BK Bridge! Happy Birthday.

It's the 125th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge this month and the city is rolling out a nearly week-long celebration through Memorial Day.

The five-day festivities kick off on May 22 with a performance by the Brooklyn Philharmonic at the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, and a Grucci fireworks show, the city announced today. A series of lectures, concerts, and family events running though Memorial Day is planned; and, from 9 to 11 nightly, starting May 22 through Memorial Day, the 1,595-foot-long bridge will be lit with colored lights.

Ulysses S. Dee (not verified) says:

My band, the Deedle Deedle Dees, is doing a free family concert in Brooklyn Bridge Park on Sunday, May 25th as part of the festivities being presented by the Borough President's Office. Everyone who comes will get a free copy of "Ghosts of the Great Bridge," a new song that we'll be debuting with its inspiration as backdrop. Show starts at 1pm. www.thedeedledeedledees.com
