At the Home of the Giants (or the Nets, Really) Waiting for Obama

EAST RUTHERFORD—All of the Jersey press is rolling up in here—the boys from Blue Jersey, Mark Bonamo, the managing editor of the Community Newspapers of North Jersey Media Group—at the newly-named Izod Center at the Meadowlands.
(Need we mention that the Meadowlands is the home of the SUPER BOWL-WINNING NEW YORK GIANTS? OH YES IT IS. Actually, we are on the floor where the Nets play, which probably means that I am standing in Jason Kidd's congealed sweat.)
One dude at the press tables just had two hot dogs with mustard and ketchup for breakfast.
But oh yes, THERE WILL BE CHANGE--in about two hours, when Barack Obama arrives. Also, the rumor going through the local press is that Robert DeNiro is going to make an appearance today. But for now, we are getting down to the jam of the Staple Singers' "I'll Take You There," which was a #1 hit in 1972, when Barack Obama was in elementary school. Slowly, one person at a time, the seats are being filled.
