March 21, 2008 | 1:16 p.m
Hillary Clinton's dramatic telling of her trip to Tuzla has for months caused snickering and eye-rolling among reporters, but today the Washington Post takes the time to truth-squad the story, a convenient development for the Obama campaign, which spent a morning conference call questioning Clinton's relationship with the truth and her electability.
Here's a release just issued by the Obama campaign:
This morning our campaign conducted a conference call and sent out a memo about Senator Clinton’s consistent political calculations to deliberately mislead the American people. Today’s report from the Washington Post Fact Checker shows yet another example, in this case about her foreign policy experience. >From the report (full piece below):
Clinton's tale of landing at Tuzla airport "under sniper fire" and then running for cover is simply not credible. Photographs and video of the arrival ceremony, combined with contemporaneous news reports, tell a very different story. Four Pinocchios.
