The Troopergate investigators are being investigated, according to a statement released just now from the Chairman of the New York State Commission on Investigations, Alfred Lerner.
He said the commission “has renewed its investigation into this whole matter," but added this:
"Our goal is to report to the people of New York and its government leaders on the effectiveness of those investigations and to propose recommendations for how investigations of high ranking State officials should take place going forward to ensure that New Yorkers can continue to have confidence in their government and government leaders."
The findings of Andrew Cuomo’s investigation of Eliot Spitzer have come to be seen over time as the most reliable.
The aborted investigation by State Inspector General, Kristine Hamann, was criticized because it was discontinued without a convincing explanation.
Both reports by Albany County District Attorney David Soares were have been criticized, in part because he never put Spitzer under oath.
