Joe Scarborough Extends Contract with MSNBC

MSNBC has ordered a second helping of Morning Joe.
The New York Times reports this morning that Joe Scarborough has extended his contract with MSNBC until March 2011. Last summer, after a successful tryout, Mr. Scarborough took over Don Imus' old morning slot on MSNBC, beating out the likes of David Gregory along the way.
From the Times story:
While it would be premature to declare Mr. Scarborough's show, "Morning Joe," an unqualified success—it still lags its competition on Fox News Channel and CNN—the show drew an estimated 360,000 viewers each morning during the recently concluded May sweeps rating period, which is about what "Imus in the Morning" was attracting in the weeks before its host's firing.
More important, perhaps, the three hours of hard-core political chat (often laced with humor) that Mr. Scarborough and his co-hosts, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist, put on each day is unlike anything else on morning television. Little wonder that every major presidential candidate has made at least one stop at Mr. Scarborough's desk since fall - including Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose husband Mr. Scarborough voted to impeach - and that throughout the broadcast Mr. Scarborough's Blackberry continuously vibrates with e-mail messages from the candidates' surrogates. Many of the messages are seeking corrections, or rebuttals, and most are immediately read aloud on the air.
Back in April, Wayne Barrett of the Village Voice took a long look back at Mr. Scarborough's political career: "In 2004, MSNBC allowed him to appear—in the middle of a presidential campaign he was covering—at the side of George W. Bush and John McCain at a rally in Pensacola, where the president singled out Scarborough, his wife, and his daughter to cheers," added Mr. Barrett. "‘I appreciate Joe Scarborough,' Bush declared. ‘I'm glad to know he's still standing and making a living.'"

Morning Joe would be a great show if they got rid of Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzenzski, and Willie Geist. Okay just get rid of Joe, I could probably stomach the other two if they had someone like David Shuster on the show to balance them out. Mika is such a push over, Joe runs all over her. It is pathetic.
I hate Joe. What is wrong with Mika's hair. Is that a wig? Jayne Mansfield called from heaven....mika she wants her hairstyle back!
Where in the world is Joe? If found, keep him off the show. He isn't needed. We need to give Mika a backbone, keep Willie smiling, and continue to keep the comentary honest and exciting.
Joe Scarborough is probably one of the most disingenuous personalities (if you call it that) on the morning circuit. He walks all over his co-hosts (not that I feel any real sympathy there) and kisses the asses of all the democratic or liberal guests then talks trash about their candidates or ideas after they leave. He hasn't the guts or the balls to say what he thinks of someone to their face. He's also a closet racist who has Pat Buchanan inject race into just about every poltical topic that comes up because, again, he hasn't the balls to do it himself.
abrams...what are you thinking????.....have you lost your way???....truly the morning joe show is painful to watch...and to think joe's contract has been extended...not a shred of cutting edge anything...joe, the free trader...more like joe, the free loader,,,,yikes!!!! i am at my wit's end...all morning tv so sucks...why so afraid of reality???...the american way of life is imploding before our eyes...free traders...we can grow our way outta this... like joe and dubya and their ilk are responsible...joe's an economic moron...msnbc needs a straight talker like mayor bloomberg....a guy with a brain,,,msnbc does not need this lower alabama dude from the redneck riviera....uplift and educate...bring good things to life!!!!!
I think that morning joe is one of the best political talk shows around. Thanks Joe, Mika and Willie
Joe Scarborough is the most rude person who believes that he knows more than anyone else...he treats Mika and David Schuster disrepectfully and is, generally, unbearable. This morning, he shouted at and interrupted General Clark. It's just unacceptable TV. I do not understand why MSNBC/NBC tolerate him.
I like Morning Joe Show even though it's really nothing more than a talk show. I am a registered democrat but this year I will be voting independent. I don't care for either candidate unless Obama puts Hillary on the ticket. What's up with Miki. First of all, she needs to do something with her hair and quit wearing that ugly pink lip gloss. Also, is she in love with Obama? When anyone mentions his name she drools all over herself. If anyone has an opinion about him, you can see her tense up and come back with some stupid remark to defend him. She needs to lighten up and quit acting so snooty. Keep Pat Buchannan on the show. He's makes it interesting and at least he has something intelligent to say. I never thought I would say about Pat.
...You need Pat B. back on Morning Joe...or else, it gets so boring real quick. Joe gets so many things wrong and is so vacuous that Buchanan is the only one that can provide some intelligent conversation.
I wait every morning for joe Scarborough , he is the only reason I watch the show. At least he is a little to the right. What is a Republican to do with MSNBC. It is far too libral for me but some days Joe shows the way. I do not love Fox and just wish all the networks could just be bi partisan. The very thought that a tv show could sway the vote in this country makes me realize no one has a mind of their own..
I used to watch Morning Joe because I really do like MSNBC....so every morning at 7am I tuned in.....(I work from home) now.......I wait until Morning Joe is over before I tune it....cannot take another minute of Joe Scarborough....he is not professional, he is slandarous, rude and a typical politician.........spinner. I was sad to hear his contract was extended.......
it's sad but true. mainstream media plays a very important role in elections just by their bias, and MSNBC is drifting more so to the left than ever. i never thought any cable news could go past CNN but they have. If you think they are liberal now just wait until Rache Maddow comes on the scene. Talk about a snooty I know more than you attitude. It's typical of someone who is just to intelectually smart they are actually dumb and careless. But that's only my opinion I could be wrong
Mr. Scarborough will be just fine. He seems a little pressured probably because of family matters. I believe he commutes to Florida every week ? I really enjoy his show, "Morning Joe". I like regulars like Mr. Pat Buchanan, Willie Giest is OK.
But Mika it's another matter. I feel like she does nothing for the "Morning Joe" Show. Her attitude is for the birds. If she's not interrupting by saying something really stupid, she is giggling like a teen-ager. In the beginning of the show (last year) she was OK. Lately, she behaves weird. I notice she sits very close to Mr. Scarborough. I believe she does better when doing the news by herself, and that's all she should do. Her contribution to the show is very minimal. . . . . either shape up or ship out !!!!!
I believe Ms. Rachel Maddow is starting her new show soon. At first when she appeared on the "Countdown Show," I thought Ms. Maddow was breath of fresh air, especially during the primaries. It seemed that she was the only one defending Sen. Clinton. But, it didn't last very long. As of lately, she is become argumentative and very loud. What's with these women !
I loved the Imus in the Morning Show but grudgingly made the switch to Morning Joe. Although Scarborough is probably a total jerk in real life (ever notice how cold his tiny eyes get when someone crosses him?), he often makes astute political comments and can be pretty funny on occasion. And while his constant dismissal/interruption of Mika is painful to watch, I figure she's an adult who should be able to take care of herself. Lately, however, Scarborough's ego and nastiness is so over-the-top that I change the channel. What's going on? The show seems to be imploding. Maybe the absence of Russert's calming influence and sanity has caused Scarborough to run amok. Whatever it is, I hope they get it in check.
I am a big fan of MSNBC. And find myself tuned in quite often. But Morning Joe is a programming mistake. This "good ole boy" Joe Scarborough is rude, wont let anyone else get a point in, and I hate to say the only time the show is any good is when he is not on it. What is he only a part time host or something..the dude takes more days off than George Bush. I like Willie and Mika is alright but can come off a little snooty.
If Joe wants to hammer right wing views non-stop he should go to fox news. Give us something original..in the middle...AND LET US MAKE UP OUR MIND!
