Mayor Keeps Repeating Same Sex Joke

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is sore that the scene he shot for Sex and the City: The Movie got cut from the feature film, which premiered in New York last night. And so this morning, during a speech at the World Science Summit at Columbia University, he aired his frustrations by quipping:

This science festival coincides with the opening of a certain movie set in New York about four independent and glamorous women. By the way, I was originally supposed to have a part in Sex and the City, but my scene wound up on the cutting-room floor. It turned out that they wanted more sex and less city. That’s fine. Their loss.

The Times' Sewell Chan noticed that the mayor made the same joke on May 19, in a commencement speech at the University of Pennsylvania, when he said, "You’re getting to participate in what may go down as one of the most important elections in American history, so important that some people were encouraging me to get into it. I have to admit: All the buzz was very exciting — and flattering. The covers of Time and Newsweek, people from Al Gore to Bono visiting City Hall, I even got a small part in the upcoming Sex and the City film. Unfortunately, my scene ended up on the cutting-room floor. Turns out they wanted more sex and less city."

According to his aides, the mayor has told a version of the same joke on two other occasions: a function at Gracie Mansion and an appearance on CNN’s American Morning. But will it be funny the fifth time?
