McCain on the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

Here's John McCain talking to the press on his campaign plane about why he voted against a national holiday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. "I had not really been involved in the issue," McCain says (numerous times), while also adding that he later fought for recognition of the holiday in Arizona, one of the last states to adopt it.

Yessirree!! Senator McCain, your press conference on the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday was appallingly unconvincing.
The video told me that you know that as well. Am I supposed to believe that Sen. John McCain is, and has been, a pro-civil rights type?
Of course the armed forces is an equal opportunity (white and black) employer. Less chance for white soldiers to be slaughtered if there are black soldiers around to be slaughtered as well.
Also, I would refrain from boasting that you are from one of the last states to recognize the MLK holiday.

The sad truth about the "greatest equal opportunity employer" the U.S. military is that of course they are happy to take any one with a heart beat to risk their lives in order to perpetuate an "occupation" that bankrolls the Republicans thirst for money and power at the expense of desperate innocent young people. It is a disgrace.
There is no excuse for pleading ignorance to the magnitude of recognizing MLK. McCain is simply ethnocentric at the very least but most obviously he's a bigot.
