'S.N.L.' Hasn't Decided Whom to Cast as Palin

Whether the Sarah Palin VP-pick ultimately pays off for John McCain remains to be seen. But for one group of Americans, Gov. Palin's sudden arrival on the national scene promises to be an instant boon: comics!
Judging from what's already made its way to YouTube (haven't you seen this, this or this?), the moose-hunting hockey mom is in for a ribbing. So who will Saturday Night Live pick to play the small screen version of Sarah Barracuda?
We checked in this afternoon with Mr. Michaels' office in New York to get some answers, and according to Marc Liepis, a spokesperson for the show, the cast is still working on it.
They won't have to crash anything too fast either: the first new episode is slated for a week from Saturday. Here's hoping they have an easier time than they did with Barack Obama .

They have to use Tina Fey! Come on!!!!
Agreed. Lorne and Fey work so close together anyway. Would it kill Fey to do a few minutes for the next few weeks?
Kristen Wiig is my favorite SNL performer in years, but I actually could envision Casey Wilson as a great Palin.
I immediately thought two words when I first saw what VP candidate Sarah Palin looked like:
Tina Fey.
I think it is highly likely that the former SNL head writer and current NBC funny girl will make a special appearance to play Palin. Although Kristen Wiig could probably get it down too.
I think Megan Mullally would be good... it would be hard to tear Tina Fey away from 30 Rock. I'd almost be happy if that nut case won for all the material it would give SNL.
Yeah!!! Megan Mullaly would be hilarious. Megan can do a Karen Walker voice actually Sarah Palin sounds like a bit Karen Walker.
What about Judy Tenuta? Voice and face are near identical.
Judy Tenuta without a doubt!! She would be perfect- it is uncanny (scary) how similar those two voices are.
Republican candidate for Vice President, Sarah Palin, may be channeling iconoclastic comedian Judy Tenuta, though it looks more like a possession than an invitational tête à tête. Is Sarah Palin the comeback career of Judy Tenuta? And of most importance, whom would be the better Vice President.

OPEN LETTER TO LORNE MICHAELS:
Dear Lorne,
Please do not have Sarah Palin as a guest or cameo on SNL.
At Sarah Palin rallies, in response to her inflammatory attacks and rhetorical questions to audiences, audience members have been heard to say “kill him,” meaning to kill Barack Obama. She asks “who is the real Barack Obama?” and the audience responds “terrorist!” This goes beyond politics and beyond human decency. In her acceptance speech at the Republican Convention, Palin quoted an ultra-conservative extremist, Westbrook Pegler, who predicted the assassination of Bobby Kennedy. Why would she do this? An audience member who yelled “kill him” in response to Palin’s incitation is now being investigated by the Secret Service.
Palin is rumored to be scheduled to appear on a Thursday version of SNL on October 9th. I am circulating this email petition for folks to contact SNL and NBC to let you know that many think this is outrageous – that a show about parody and satire should not legitimize inciting violence against Barack Obama, the first black man ever to attain a major party’s nomination for our highest office. Governor Palin's Reading List
By Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Posted September 15, 2008 | 11:27 AM (EST)
Fascist writer Westbrook Pegler, an avowed racist who Sarah Palin approvingly quoted in her acceptance speech for the moral superiority of small town values, expressed his fervent hope about my father, Robert F. Kennedy, as he contemplated his own run for the presidency in 1965, that "some white patriot of the Southern tier will spatter his spoonful of brains in public premises before the snow flies."
It might be worth asking Governor Palin for a tally of the other favorites from her reading list.
