The "investment fund" that's bankrolled over a dozen hires for BizDay (the one we told you about this morning) has allowed the paper to procure yet another writer.

This time it's Jenna Wortham from Wired.com. Here's the memo that was sent out to the business staff:

Larry Ingrassia, Damon Darlin and Vindu Goel are pleased to announce that Jenna Wortham will be joining The Times as a reporter covering how companies are using the Internet to change the way we work and live, as part of Business Day's expansion of our technology coverage online.
Jenna, currently a San Francisco-based culture reporter at Wired.com, will write about Web start-ups, emerging Internet business models and tech culture for The Times's Bits blog and our newly launched Internet page on NYTimes.com. Jenna, who will be based in New York, will also write feature-length pieces for publication in print.
At Wired.com, the online component to Wired magazine, Jenna writes about entertainment, Internet culture, social networking, online communities and Web video. She has also worked as a freelance fact-checker and writer for Wired magazine, freelanced for Bust and Planet magazines and contributed to Frommer's 2007 guidebook to Costa Rica.
Jenna has written about topics as diverse as the digital filmmaking industry in Nigeria and the evolution of online dating from the Internet to cellphones. She put together a memorable online photo essay on a "Star Wars" fan who has replicated scenes from the movies using Legos. And she once spent an entire night investigating a purportedly haunted Bay Area bordello with a team of Internet-based, DIY ghost hunters.
Jenna, a 2004 graduate of the University of Virginia, will work closely with deputy technology editor Vindu Goel, as well as tech editor Damon Darlin and deputy tech editor David Gallagher.
Please join us in welcoming Jenna, who will start Nov. 17.
