Times' 'Metro' Section Consolidated Into A-Section; Renamed 'New York'

The Times' B-section is no longer the Metro Section; it's now the Business Section.

And here's Metro's new placement—renamed "New York"—on A21.

Today is the first day that the Metro section merged into the A-section; it comes after Foreign news and National news. Tomorrow, Sports will merge with the Business section.

Add that "change" to its real booboos: hiring Wm. Kristol and its editorial backing of Bloomberg's plan to remain as the city's "indispensible man."

Consolidation of sections is inevetable - it doesn't make a spit of difference to a reader. It saves press machine operations leverage and savings.

Multiple sections are probably going to the wayside or at least reduced Mon-Fri Expect that the weekend will always have x number of sections because these sections are printed well in advance during press down time.
