Assemblyman Michael Benjamin is in South Carolina this weekend, campaigning for Barack Obama.
At 12:29 a.m. this morning, he emailed a dispatch from there to reporters, which explains, “Negative campaigning hurt more than the Clinton campaign’s race-baiting,” and “HRC has not proved that she can attract more than 40% of the vote. I believe that NY Hispanics will turn to Obama in recognition of his steadfast support for immigration reform w/o demonizing immigrants and his plans for economic expansion.”
Michael Benjamin’s dispatch from South Carolina:
In NY, voters will be fired up. NY voters will vote their hopes, not their race, gender or fears. HRC has not proved that she can attract more than 40% of the vote.
I believe that NY Hispanics will turn to Obama in recognition of his steadfast support for immigration reform w/o demonizing immigrants and his plans for economic expansion.
NYers will not succumb to the Clinton’s politics of triangulation. They will respond favorably to Obama’s argument that the recession is the result of the war in Iraq and an administration in the pocket of lobbyists. The trade deals (e.g., NAFTA) that began under Bush 41 and continued under Bill Clinton (NAFTA II, most-favored nation status for Communist China, etc.) and worsened under Bush 43 have damaged our economic security. HRC is fully committed to the continued globalization (i.e., outsourcing of low skill jobs) of the American economy at the expense of our economic security.
NYers are fired up and ready to propel Sen Obama into the White House. Sen Obama will be more than competitive in Super Tuesday states like lL, CA, TX, NJ, and CT. His appeal to independents and Republicans, will continue in Midwestern and Western "red" states.
