More Treatment at HBO?
Hot and bothered Gabriel Byrne (he's a really good listener!) might be back in his therapist's chair for the next season of In Treatment on HBO. Although the network hasn't officially renewed the show, producers told the Los Angeles Times' Show Tracker blog that they'll start shooting “sometime in the fall,” according to current show runner show runner Rodrigo Garcia. “We have to write a lot of scripts before then.” Mr. Garcia plans to step down and make room for Warren Leight, who has run Law & Order: Criminal Intent for the last two years.
Garcia plans to stay on as an executive producer and oversee post-production but would hand over head writing duties to Leight, a Tony Award-winning playwright.
“It’s a very, very difficult show to make,” Garcia said. “Bear in mind, we did 43 episodes and it’s all-consuming and it’s exhausting, so I just thought it would be great to have someone to share the weight. And Warren is a very good show runner and an excellent playwright, so I’m happy to have him. But I’m still a part of it.”
HBO executives declined to comment, as negotiations over the series’ second season are ongoing. And representatives for Byrne did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
So I don't think Rodrigo Garcia would be thinking about a script or Leight hired if they didn't plan on doing seasond season. We get that. But the bigger question is whether or not Gabriel Byrne will be playing Paul Weston. If HBO doesn't get him in that part then I don't care if there's a Season Two.

"In Treatment" is the only reason we are keeping HBO. If this program is taken off,We will cancel our HBO. We loved the whole show, the cast and scripts. It makes up for the loss of the Sopranos.
I am so disappointed that I caught this program so late.
I'm a graduate student in psychology - so I don't spend
much time watching television in general. When I do - it
better be good! There is so much more content these days.
However, HBO is the only one willing to take risks and go
beyond what has been done artistically! InTreatment is no
exception!
I'm thrilled there is talk of bringing it back- and- my message
to HBO is this: I love Gabriel Byrne in the role. However, I would
be happy with an equally talented actor playing the part - if it
all came down to money in the end!

I love this show. The acting and writing was great--they showed all win awards. In Treatmentio was the best show for people to get a realistic view of how therapy works, and brought up real treatment issues. It's amazing to have a show so well written that people can sit and be enthralled based on relationships and talking, not action. It was actually, in my opinion, very educational for the layman. It has to have Gabriel Byrne---he was excellent!
I witnessed many beautiful young women in New York fall victim to this guy (the real megalomaniac / misogynist Gabriel Byrne). He preys upon those who legitimately believe the propaganda that is celebrity (the bullshit machine that propagates that he is an intelligent, thoughtful, and caring human being) and punishes them for their naivity. It is possible that Gabriel Byrne is incapable of any real feelings, except self-love.
