Meet Mr. Pea--Er, Jack Heights

There are plenty of mascots representing various schools, universities, sports teams, restaurants, bands, and even roller derby teams across the five boroughs.
Scooter the Holy Cow represents Staten Island’s minor league baseball team the Yankees; the Brooklyn Cyclones have Sandy the Seagull and Pee Wee; Queens University has Boohoo the Bear; NYU’s mascot is a bobcat. Even the real estate Web site Trulia.com rolls out a tall, neon green, Gumby-like, life-size “map marker” at trade shows.
But, until last week, no neighborhood had its very own mascot. On Feb. 15, Jackson Heights brokerage MPC Properties LLC unveiled Jack Heights, a new (attempted) mascot for the “budding neighborhood” that is “once again on the rise as a Mecca for young urbanites looking for a space to call home," according to a company press release.
Jack Heights bears a startling resemblance to Mr. Peanut. Is that the Jackson Heights resident of the future?

I think this is a brilliant idea. So the top-hat might be tacky for the 21st century but if you know a little bit about Jackson Heights, it's Landmark District/Historic District is based upon certain buildings from the 1910's to early 1940's. A top hat at that time could be fashionable so I see history and "character" in this icon. Good for Jackson Heights, Jack Heights, and MPC Properties.
It fit this "budding" neighborhood perfectly. Loony and historically incorrect. So yes, good for Jackson Heights.
Jackson Heights Historic District is not full of history but it is certainly full of questionable, unsavory characters. This silly mascot fits right in.
That's an obvious farce. Do some research before jumping to any bigotry. Such nonsensical rubbish should be shoved down your throat and up your ass, where it belongs.
MUST BE A FARCE. I LIVE IN JACKSON HEIGHTS. LOVE JACKSON HEIGHTS SO MUCH - AND FEEL THAT AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE SHOULD MOVE HERE. PARK SLOPE AND BROOKLYN HEIGHTS? DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! MOVE TO JACKSON HEIGHTS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN READ AND FOLLOW MARCH 2ND'S ADVICE - SHOVE IT DOWN YOUR THROAT, ETC. NOW REMEMBER THIS IS PROBABLY REALLY GOOD ADVICE.
My husband and I were seriously considering purchasing in Jackson Heights. We have walked through a few available coops. Some were nice, some just okay.
But the throat, up your *** comment delivered on March 2nd obviously from someone who is easily angered, is scary. We will stay in Park Slope.
You should continue to stay in Park Slope. Feed off of rich mommy and daddy, it's the luxurious way of life! They were always there for you. Even when you went to NYU only to drop out and to dorm four train stations away from home just for the 'experience.' Jackson Heights is seriously too scary, really. People like March 2nd do make it scary indeed. You might get raped and your husband might get shot!
YES I AM A CONDESCENDING ANDROID WHO ACTUALLY LIVES IN PARK SLOPE OR BROOKLYN HEIGHTS. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE CAPS LOCK ON THE KEYBOARD. MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING MORE SIGNIFICANT WITH MY LIFE INSTEAD OF BEING PAMPERED. IF I DID THEN I WOULD AT LEAST KNOW HOW TO WORK A KEYBOARD. ANYWAYS MY SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE ADDRESSED THAT JACKSON HEIGHTS IS A DUMP AND PEOPLE WHO STICK UP FOR JACKSON HEIGHTS HAVE THE CRANIAL CAPACITY OF A SQUIRREL. BOO TO EVERYTHING THAT STANDS FOR JACKSON HEIGHTS.
Some of these comments are just silly and should be ignored. I recently moved to the JH Historic District and find the neighborhood both diverse and wonderful. The architecture is amazing and the central parks/gardens are a great respite for relaxing and soaking up some nature. JH is a hidden jewel!
