Networks, Studios Nix Parties After Golden Globes Cancellation

After the Hollywood Foreign Press Association officially announced the cancellation of the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards telecast yesterday, studios and television channels began cancelling their own parties that usually take place after the champagne dinner at the Beverly Hilton. HBO, Universal and InStyle/Warner Bros. were nixing their plans last night, according to Nikke Finke at Deadline Hollywood Daily.

The Writers Guild of America is still considering picketing the press conference announcing the winners at 6 p.m. on Jan. 13. "We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007's outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television," said Jorge Camara, President of The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, in a statement. "We take some comfort, however, in knowing that this year's Golden Globe Award recipients will be announced on the date originally scheduled."
