New PATH Train Entrance Opens Tonight
The Port Authority is opening a new entrance at the World Trade Center PATH Station tonight in time for the Tuesday morning commute.
The new entrance at Vesey Street and West Broadway will eventually replace the existing one at Church Street, which will close in mid-April to accommodate excavation and construction at the trade center site.
The temporary PATH entrance is a key part of the rebuilding that’s under way at the site, the Port Authority said in a statement released Monday morning. Work on the Freedom Tower is almost at street level; the foundations for the World Trade Center Memorial are nearly complete; and construction of Towers 3 and 4 is underway on top of the 80-foot-deep bathtub the authority recently finished.
