Paterson to Obama: I'll Campaign With You
David Paterson spoke with Barack Obama around 2 p.m., he told reporters in Midtown during the New York State Democratic Party’s meeting.
“He asked me how the first two and a half months were going," Paterson said. "And I told him it might have even been more difficult than your campaign.”
Paterson went on, “He did ask me to campaign with him, and I told him I would certainly find a way to campaign with him, but I am a little busy right now.”
In a scrum with reporters, Sheldon Silver, an Orthodox Jew, said he doesn’t have a problem with Obama’s foreign policy or position on Israel.
“I seem to be fine with everything he said so far,” Silver said.
Also at the party meeting was Tom Suozzi, who was one of the last people to leave, and Bill Perkins, who said his tiff with Yvette Clarke this afternoon was no big deal. One of Silver's primary opponents, Paul Newell, was also there. He's an Obama delegate so Silver can look forward to seeing him in Denver.
