Obama Supporter Spin: No K.O., Typical H.R.C.
Here's the late-night spin Assemblyman and Obama supporter Michael Benjamin of the Bronx emailed to reporters:
This is incredible. 3AM and counting. HRC failed to deliver the knockout blow. Sen Obama won 13 states, mostly "flyover" states. California and NY are out-of-touch with the middle American concerns and values that Barack speaks to, which typifies HRC.

Let me start by noting I am a proud Obama supporter, but it is interesting to note that Mr. Benjamin is saying his constituents are out of touch with America. I wonder how that will go.
Is an outer-borough native supposed to be moved by promises of race relations? Not to age you Assemblyman, but those of us that grew up in NYC post 1980 see things just a little bit different. This is not Alabama. Its nice that the rest of the country is finally trying to catch up to where NY is socially, but that doesn't mean we're out of touch with American values; we've just been in touch with them a lot longer.
Great job crapping on your hometown though! Can't wait to see that quote on you opponents poster next runaround.
I'd be less concerned about how in touch NY is with Middle-America values and more concerned with how in touch you are with NY values, Assemblyman.
middle america values = yummy cupcakes!
What a dope.
Aside from stupidly slamming his own hometown, the Assemblyman is simply wrong.
While Obama did win "flyover" states, his victory came from large urban cities, like carrying Missouri because of Kansas City and St. Louis.
In Colorado, Denver and Boulder. In Utah, Salt Lake City. Etc. etc.
Perhaps those on the coasts are just more jaded regarding well-delivered one-word campaign platforms with not much, unfortunately, behind them. Fly-over country will catch up.
Mr. Benjamin, I voted for Obama, but your rants are really beginning to turn me off. Give it a rest, willya? You and your "middle American" values, like crapping all over those who support gay marriage, are really starting to creep me out. I'm starting to think about concrete ways in which I can help hinder the advancement of your political career, and I don't even live in your district!
The Bronx has long been the Mecca of brilliant politicians.
Don't slam the Bronx!
Anyone who truly believes in and supports Obama's campaign should understand that our goal is not to bring down HRC, it is to lift Obama up. We no longer want to be against something, but for something. People in NY and Cali voted for Hillary for a variety of reasons, to make it more simple than that really is just old-style political spin.
To those who think that there is nothing real behind Obama's campaign, I would suggest you start reading more and listen less to the sound bites you see on tv. It's the same as saying Hillary is all establishment. This race has been oversimplified as change vs experience, when in reality each candidate offers both. In order make a much much more informed decision, start looking for the concrete differences on the issues. There are plenty of resources online for doing just that.
It's one thing to respond to a claim or make a distinction in policy and disagree with the other candidates, that's good politics. Broad generalizations and offhand comments, however, are simply childish and should have no place in real political discussion.
So to those out there who read the Assemblyman's comments, do not take that to be the message from all of the Obama camp. There are those who would like to twist and distort the truth from both sides, and it is our duty to see through the charade and call people out on it.
