Obama, Housing Policy, and the Ladies of The View
I just caught part of Barack Obama's appearance on The View, where he was engaged in a rather wonky (for daytime TV, at least) discussion about the home mortgage crisis.
Barbara Walters drew a contrast between Obama and John McCain, saying Obama wants more federal assistance for people losing their homes, while McCain wants less.
In elaborating their positions, Obama said, “McCain said correctly that there were some people who took on excessive risks. They bought houses that were too big because somebody told them they don’t have to pay anything down. Lenders were giving folks money because they were making money even though they knew people would not be able to pay. So, we don’t want to reward bad behavior.
"On the other hand, there are a lot of people who bought homes thinking they could pay it. They got teaser rates—they didn’t know what they were getting into. If they foreclose, everybody is worse off, including their neighbors who were responsible, because now, the foreclosure brings property values down for everybody.”
As the show was wrapping up, Walters thanked Obama for his time and asked him to return.
“You know I will," he said. "Although I think you might want to have Michelle [Obama] back on because she will dish the dirt.”
“We would love it,” Walters responded.
Of course, this was all after he talked about Jeremiah Wright.

This episode was soooo sweet and phony. Jesus, Obama is a huckster.
Ha ha, he said, if Rev. Wright hadn't of retired, I would have left that church. Such BS.

Wow, thanks for telling us how you really feel. If I needed to defend Obama's integrity against individuals like yourself, I certainly don't now.

the infatuation with this process is starting to wane. hillary has done all she can to tarnish the reputation of a truly decent man, to what end... hillary or nobody, on the dems side that is.
obfuscation, prevarication, triangulation... that is all she knows. she is without shame; making light of the outright lies she told about bosnia says it all.
Obama has previously stated that he and his wife's $1.6 million home purchase, in 2005, was a stretch for his family. In other words, Obama is implying that the couple couldn't afford the home.
Since Obama has released the couples' income documents from the years, 2000 through 2006, his previous statement doesn't collaborate what he's been saying.
Here's a few numbers:
2000.
The combined family income was $240,505.
2005
The combined family income was $1,650,000.
2006
The combined family income was $983,826.
In only a five-year time period the Obama's income had increased seven-fold. I think it goes without saying that the 2005 home purchase was NOT a stretch for Obama. His previous statement was an obvious misrepresentation.
My question is this: why would Obama rely on the shady Resko's to buy a plot of land, when they appear to be a good financial position to buy it themselves?
Hmmm....government work has been lucrative for Obamer.

I hate to tell you this, but limousines are not what's hot in Washington and every state capital. Economical/green cars are what's hot for politicians. What politician in his/her right mind would tell the press I drive a Cadillac Escalade or a Lincoln Navigator?
Well, every politician from the president on down to Mayor Bloomberg and Governor Paterson use Chevy Suburbans; Speaker Pelosi hauls her candy ass around in a big black job, with a security detail that would make Governor Schwarzenegger blush.
Hell, assistant secretaries of HUD, Veteran Affairs and Agriculture get drivers and security.
The politicians you speak of are the VIP politicians, which are relatively few in number.
Many lower-ranking politicians, and particularly those running for office at the national and state levels, have switched to environmentally-friendly cars. Running for office, and driving a gas guzzler, may not win many votes in November.
