Obama's Kitchen Sink Speech

PAOLI, Penn.—Barack Obama offered an especially sharp criticism of Hillary Clinton’s campaign in Paoli this afternoon as part of his train tour through Pennsylvania:

“Senator Clinton’s essential argument in this campaign is that you can’t change how the game is played in Washington. Her basic argument is that the slash-and-burn, say-anything, do-anything, special-interest-driven politics is how it works. And so she has taken more money than any other candidate, Democrat or Republican combined. She also believes that the nature of politics is that you say what the people want to hear.

"So maybe you say something about trade when you are campaigning with your husband eight, ten, 12 years ago and you say something different now that you are out campaigning in Ohio, Pennsylvania. Maybe you say one thing about the war when it looks like the war is popular and maybe you say something else about the war when it gets to be unpopular. That’s how business is done in Washington. That’s become typical. The idea of running negative campaigns. Well, her staff called it the kitchen sink strategy. We’re going to throw whatever we want at Barack, whether it’s true, whether it’s false, whether it’s exaggerated, whether it’s relevant. Because that’s, according to Senator Clinton, what the Republicans will do to Barack anyway, so I might as well do it too.

"So what’s happened is, Senator Clinton has internalized a lot of the strategies and tactics that have made Washington such a miserable place, where all we do is bicker and all we do is fight."

the real drag here is the "hope" genre that has been played from jesse jackson to deval patrick will not mature with the obama campaign. the latter has built upon the notion of "hope" for $25...or more. it's questionable as to how the campaign is spending this money...surely not on volunteers or a field organization. EVERY communication i've received from the campaign has included a money beg...not one of time or input. it's definitely not a poor peoples campaign.
perhaps it's going to the axelrod entity...his business partner manages the campaign and other of his "camp obama" operatives are salaried, and media advisors are not only paid for the product, they profit from ad placement.
a closer look at the obama campaign spending may well provide an introspective into how the junior senator drives the bus...or at least, like a child in a parents lap, sits at the wheel. who's gettin' paid? where's the money goin?

...question for the Superdelegates... (not verified) says:

.
The question for Democratic superdelegates is: “Do we want the ‘Clinton Three- Ring Circus’ back on the White House lawn?”
Hillary’s 2008 presidential campaign has always been about the Clintons’ own self-interests. Hillary has deliberately tried to undermine Obama’s electability in the general election, knowing that could be disastrous for the Democrats in November. She has engaged in what can be described as the ‘kamikaze’ strategy - (‘I’ll destroy Obama before I’ll let him win!’) The Clintons, as a pair, as a two-fer, have an inherently self-destructive personality.
Hillary started her campaign believing she was headed for a coronation; a sense of entitlement that screamed “I deserve to be president.” For all her claims of experience, her presidential campaign has been an unmitigated failure. And when things have gone wrong, often as a result of the Clintons’ own doing, staff and surrogates have been thrown under the bus.
Hillary’s chronic problem is how she is viewed by the majority of voters; her ratings for honesty, favorability and trustworthiness are in a steady decline. A recent AP poll finds that a “clear majority.voters now say Obama has the better chance of defeating” John McCain. It may be that more Democrats are voting ‘against’ Hillary --- than are voting ‘for’ Obama.
Her campaign has given us insight into what a Hillary Presidency would be like: half-truths, outright lies, demonizing of opponents, an endless psychodrama and a president, who when politically wounded, would whine and wallow in self-pity of victimhood. Her repugnant presidential campaign, which is headed for imminent defeat, is the second major disaster over which Hillary has presided, ‘Hillarycare’ being the first.

There is no place to go but up. Americans are (over)due for a Renaissance -- and Barack Obama, son of a mother who at times needed food stamps as a single mother completing her education -- is the perfect epitaph for the end of the "Reagan Revolution" whereby (Reagan) Democrats were enticed by the race-baiting/triangulating Roger Ailes/Lee Atwater, reprised by Karl Rove for the real-Reagan legatee, George W. Bush. The Clintons honed their "skills" and, to their credit -- held their own, during the most damaging (to the American Middle-Class and way of life) era in American history. The super-rich insulated/isolated from RISK by the ultra-RISK of the Middle Class, while entire industries have been off-shored in mega-DEAL-making by the revolving door of candidates/lobbyists commoditizing American interests out-of-office, only to return for another run at the trough. The Military Industry Complex has ballooned out-of-control and the Presidency and Republican Congress have financially benefitted to the extreme by political decisions in a unique quid-pro-quo. The only Democratic Administration in the middle of this juggernaut -- the Clintons -- DID NOT repudiate the status-quo, resulting in blowback at the Congressional level and during the 2000 Election. The last 7 years were a direct result of the Clinton Administration blowback, and I am surprised the MEDIA has not made this connection. George W. Bush ran against Bill Clinton...and won. The Republicans took over Congress after more than half a Century because of Bill Clinton. The Nation's governing apparatus has been GRIDLOCKED because of the Clinton's heavyhandedness and overreaching AMBITION. Barack Obama has enrolled our young to fight for their Country and calling for a Renaissaince of a CELEBRATION of our best and brightest. Science, Math and education at-large will be elevated. (Profitable) militarism as the ONLY path to success and prosperity, will be put back in its place. Bush/Clinton de-regulated MEDIA, FINANCE/INSURANCE and other industries -- will be MANAGED by a re-energized DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS - demoralized by the top-down mismanagement and self-interested Clintons, at the apex of the Party. Americans are ready for a Renaissance. The world is rooting for us!

I am sure Prof. Reich was DISGUSTED when a former Clinton Campaign ('92) and Clinton White House employee -- asked a sitting UNITED STATES SENATOR from the great State of Illinois, who was selected by fellow Americans as their representative -- ABOUT HIS PATRIOTISM??? What have we elected George S. (or Charlie G.) to/for? Who the hell are THEY??? ENOUGH of these Republican games and the destructive influence these talking heads have on our culture at-large. THEY are eroding OUR Democracy -- and we might ask -- DO THEY LOVE OUR COUNTRY??? Glad some "Super-Delegates" are finding thei BACKBONE and speaking out. Time to RETIRE the Clintons and allow Chelsea to make her own way in the world as our children do -- sans parental influence. And, Clinton Inc. has made enough money...on us! If they sold future influence, let THEM pay it themselves. WE DO NOT OWE THEM OUR DEMOCRACY and the Democratic Leadership should never allowed themselves or Democratic voters to be reeled into a circle of influence whereby ONLY the Clintons (and the royal courtiers in/out of government for a generation) get to made decisions about who is patriotic/who is worthy/loyalty oaths, etc. Sounds like the Mafia! New Yorkers (who REALLY live here and not the hedge fund guys/gals from CT) can't wait to turn this bunch out. We invited Hillary Clinton in to SERVE OUR NEEDS. Voting for the War and making other decisions including but not limited to making us her base of operation for a Presidential run -- translates into REPUDIATION. We are embarassed in the Empire State...and that's a NO/NO! We can turn you out as easily as we invite you in -- and the establishment pols have no more influence as you can see Nationwide. Turn the page on ALL of them!

Hey, Jeff, are you capable of providing any actual proof, or was your assignment simply to drop innuendo and smears here? My guess, for what it's worth, is that readers are probably not stupid, and won't be falling for this approach much. But by all means, keep it up.

It's hard to tell, of course, but you could be a Republican operative just as easily as you could be working for the Clinton campaign. I don't have any proof either way, of course, but either is possible.

See? I know how to do it, too.

The Queen of Pork, Matt Taibbi, Rolling Stone (May 1, 2008)

"Sen. Hillary Clinton was smiling broadly and wearing a black jacket over some strange Oriental get-up. She was standing next to influential black pastor Calvin Butts, in front of the latter's famous Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem. Camera bulbs were flashing. An important announcement was about to be made.

Butts, it turns out, was endorsing Hillary over Barack Obama in the upcoming New York primary.

... All politicians buy and sell favors, and presidential candidates are worse than most."

Butt this one was a bit stunning.
